I know this is an unpopular opinion but...

Do you realize that the Broncos have the 4th best pass defense in the league? I’m not sure “atrocious” means what you think it means.

I think the solution is to receive 1 foul shot and the ball. This removes Hack-a-Shaq for the same reason Harvey suggests, but ups the penalty for intentional fouling.

Historical data says that teams have a ~70% chance on 4th and 1 and ~70% of scoring a touchdown from 1st and goal from the 5 (However, 4 attempts instead of 3 may increase the odds to as much as 85%). As a result going for it gives you odds of .7 * .85 = 60% chance of scoring a go ahead touchdown.

Very interesting article.

Yes! Yes to all of these things.

His “top ten all time” statistics are mostly cumulative stats; the result of him playing more games than most people rather than being better. If you look at his non cumulative stats you see a lot of things like:

I like your analysis.

I feel like there are two other factors which frequently make it look like big money teams are better at developing prospects.

A basketball team has 5-6 players that play the majority of the minutes so, if you add 1 all-star to your team, your team is 20% more all-star. By comparison a football team uses a minimum of 22, a baseball team has at least 14 (8 position, 5 starters, closer), and a hockey team’s starting 5 only play at most 1/3 of

I think one important factor you are overlooking is that a high percentage of movies are bad. We like to pretend making movies is easy but even someone like Spielberg has a shockingly high number of mediocre movies. Personally, I read reviews before I go see a movie and only watch the good ones so it feels like movies

It is generally accepted that there isn’t an edge of the universe (if there was an edge, what is beyond it?). This means that the universe is either infinite or loops back on itself. This is difficult to imagine in three dimensions but I find it helps to think of this in terms of the earth’s surface. From your

I have to agree with a lot of these comments. He is one of the best world builders out there and has created some fantastic magic systems (the magic system in Mistborn is my favorite system ever). However, his characterization and prose tends to come off a bit young-adultish.

People only think of Ortiz as an all-time great (and better than Edgar) because he played in Boston (media center and a hitters park). For simple park neutral stats just look at their road stats...
Edgar: .312/.412/.514
Ortiz: .267/.359/.538

Edgar hit for a much higher average, much higher OBP, and was only a little

Solar Systems are tiny relative to the distance between them. Our solar system, for example, is about 0.001 light years across but the nearest solar system is 4 light years away. In other words, reaching the system and reaching the planet is basically the same.

I am surprised to hear you use megaparsecs. When I was in school, my upper level classes used cgs (centimeters, grams, seconds) as their bases units and the (admittedly few) papers I read conformed to this standard. It always felt a bit silly referring to the distance to galaxies in centimeters, but that is what was

A parsec wouldn’t be an appropriate unit for this situation. To understand why, you first need to understand what a parsec is.

Believe it or not, the Browns had a top 10 offense going into this game.

Agreed on 3/4
