Stuff doesnt rust that much here on the west coast. Its way better than the interior or the east coast. We have plenty of original 20+yo cars with little or no rust. Also, we have lots of superb craigslist finds.

Driveline is no limitation of in-bed payload capacity. The driveline that can tow 20k can haul 4k in the bed. Driveline is only a small part of tow payload rating. Todays drive lines are more than capable of exceeding the vehicle's payload, nevermind tow rating.
