“Saving” spots just makes parking shortages worse, because now as well as the spaces occupied by cars, there are otherwise-usable spaces occupied by somebody who knows somebody who has a car that they’ll bring Really Soon Now.

I assure you there is nothing strange about that corner at all. It’s a relatively consistent radius (albeit w/ little to no camber) that is a borderline sweeper.
