I'm seeing a lot of comments that basically say "well, you can just mute players who spew offensive stuff." While that's true from a feature standpoint for a lot of games, I really don't like the idea that the people who aren't jerks have to self-segregate and take responsibility/consequences for others' poor

PTSD from repeated verbal abuse, which could come from any number of sources. The idea that people can't be hurt by words is outdated and wrong - words can wound, and they can leave permanent emotional scarring, especially in younger, still emotionally developing people.

Of course! Obviously groups that routinely get targeted both online and in reality should just suck it up and deal because it's too much to ask people not be complete assholes! And clearly slurs that have a history of violence and murder behind them are the same as calling someone an asshole or fucker!

Everyone? No. The vast majority? Certainly.

So everyone slinging insults are straight white guys? Now that's ignorant.

So blacks, gays, women, Jews, etc. should carry the burden of avoiding being called niggers, faggots, cunts and kikes because straight white guys can't act civilized?

The "just mute them" response is horrible. It's saying to not get involved when someone's talking simply to not have to deal with. It can also throw your game off. I can't mute people in Dota 2 because I'll miss out on information relative to the game. If someone says, "Watch out top," three other people aren't

Yeah, it ruins a game for me. I play games to ESCAPE reality (which is full of assholes), not be subjected to the rants of racist morons. If that's what I wanted I'd just talk to a politician or police officer.

I'm with you on that. I used to like playing FPS, but the whole anonymous voice-chat-bigotry truly ruined the experience.

I got called an insensitive slur for using the M1014 exclusively in Battlefield 4 (I was grinding weapons in TDM, so there's that). I got annoyed, so I switched to a pistol to humor him. Proceeded to headshot him, then hit the share button and sent him a picture of the double kill+headshot.
He left me alone afterwards.

So now we live in a world where it's OK to be an asshole because if your douchebaggery is a problem for someone, they're just being overly sensitive?

Well then, instead of acting like an insecure 14 year-old and bashing people who take the time to comment on your work, why not write an article explaining WHY the DLC idea is so awfully out of touch that even it's mere mention sends you into fits of rage? This is the first article I've read of yours, and I quite

Well, working in reverse order, I don't have a problem with it. I frankly don't care. I was unaware of any sort of licensing deal regarding the production of numerous Madden games. No, I don't play sports games, hence the question/comment. Had I played sports games, it would be painfully obvious.

I really don't play sport games except for Soccer but I have a question. Does the stats on these games get updated regularly via console internet connection or is it something that one has to do manually? I asking because back in the day I used to watch my ex-girlfriend's brother play Madden and All Star Baseball and

Jumping down somebody's throat because they're not intimately familiar with videogame licensing feels like a bit of an overreaction.

Considering that the topic is what EA sports is doing in order to improve the Madden games, and the guy was asking about an idea that he believed would improve the Madden games. I would respectfully disagree with your assesment about it being a useless comment, the guy had an honest question, he wasn't rude about it,

Come on guys, the dude had an honest question. And while y'all answered that question, the method y'all used was perhaps a bit... (pulling back from namecalling here, editing myself) well, lets just say y'all didn't have to be quite so snide or mean to the guy.

I don't understand why they just don't make the one Madden and then add DLC every year for the new line up. Seems like a waste of money to constantly redo the game.
