When I lived in Reno back in the day, I once left a 5-lb flat of chicken wings in the back of my 280z. I went looking for them in the house and peeked in the car for them and didn’t see the bag, so I figured I left them at the store or something.

Yeah, I think cameras would be better than mirrors, particularly if you can add information overlays or radar in the case of fog, heavy rain, blizzard, etc. A FLIR/IR overlay would be really cool, too.

Yep. I don’t disagree with a lot of illrigger’s post... But there’s a safety component. How are rescuers going to open your door if you’re incapacitated? I wonder how the jaws of life will work on those side panels; and aren’t the windows supposed to be reinforced glass (putting aside Elon’s demo where they failed).

The problem is that you still need door handles. You still need something to grab to open the door and pull it. You also need a mechanical linkage somewhere to pull for emergency situations - I think that one is actually codified in law.

I’d say it’s more  the sunk cost to his (and the company’s) ego. The Lighting is going to crush the Cybertruck in a way that none of his models have been before. He’s probably getting the public ready for that by saying “oh well it might be a flop because it’s actually too inventive.”

What was the list? All I can think of is sockets to run equipment off of, otherwise just be a truck and its an instant win.

I think Tesla actually did that. Or it was something like some home depot wood corner trim and a ratchet strap.

I agree. Electrified Garage really ought to recommend a stiffened belly pan to prevent having the exact same failure, especially since they’ve seen the failure before and their fix doesn’t remove the root cause but actually makes the probability of failure even higher if it happens again

I’m sorry, the brass will what now?

It doesn’t cost $40k to replace an iPhone, but yeah.

Not sure how a brass piece is going to warp. This is likely stronger than the plastic piece ever was. The only downside I can see is that the plastic housing it went into will likely break before it does, so the potential for the next repair to be much more difficult is higher.

That is the realization of the big nightmare for most of us. I’m not sure what manner of projectile launcher would be available to the owner, but you can bet he's using it in the “what if” running through his head...

Yes, an internal linking strategy appears to be at the core of G/O media’s strategy to lower bounce rates, enhance the crawling of pages by Google, and increase overall page views in order to ... yep, increase ad revenue.

That’s super obvious, and I can’t blame y’all.

I still would’ve clicked the link if the headline had said “shiniest turd makes best of a bad situation. The difference is that I wouldn’t have been nearly so disappointed when the article was about a minivan with a stick.

I guess it’s so rare that David forgot about the fact he already posted that Aerostar manuals are rare in 2018 by showing us another manual Aerostar:

Yes, I read your posts, David.

And, no, I’m not mad because I know you are in love

Jeep only built roughly 1,500, and I’m about to own four of them

David, I think you’re great.

NP, I’ve spent more on computer parts.

THE FUCKING SLIDESHOWS!!!! AHHHH
