The car that finally forced me to learn to drive a stick - a 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP. I loved that damned car. I remember the first time my husband tried to teach me how to drive it. We ended up yelling at each other because I couldn’t figure out how to back out of someone’s driveway to turn around, and I was

Yes please.  Portland does not do well in all of this heat, especially not when it’s accompanied by choking wildfire smoke.  It’s not awesome.

I’m sure it’s great but I’m not buying ANY CAR with 192,000 miles on it. That’s just a hot potato waiting to fall apart.

My favorite summer...thingy:

...flat bottomed wheels they make the rockin’ car go round....

I have a 2012 Autobahn variant of the above-pictured car (assuming that’s a GTI and not an R) and I don’t know. I like it? I guess? It wasn’t the reason I bought the car, and it has no effect on my daily driving, but it kind of looks cool.

The Sims also includes vampires and aliens. Aliens can’t become vampires, but vampires can feed on aliens.

Sheesh...it’s like anyone who has an opinion is a “snob.”

Ew.

I bought the “highly lauded” Dell XPS 13 flippy laptop at the beginning of this year, replacing my old MacBook Pro with it.

And making that existential decision - “Do I order my  buddy to get captured so that later I can kill the bug that captured him and ...um somehow we get linked together at that point?”

Yep that sounds like interpol, except the lead singer tried a higher register for once.  Cool.

Exactly one year ago. Driving from Salem Oregon to Portland, after the eclipse.

Is this thing actually being filmed in Tulsa??  If so, that’s kind of cool - between this and that animated DC show I can’t remember the name of, it looks like my hometown is getting some unusual attention.  Dig it.

I just let go at some point and assume the situation will take care of itself.  Two, three people max, and then I’m done.  The fourth can catch the door after I’ve let go.

We call these people “niceholes.”  They’re also the people who let bikes cross major streets when the bicycles have a stop sign and the major street doesn’t.

This is all exciting. I was so blown away by being able to attend the tribute to LeGuin in Portland earlier this year -so many amazing authors and words about her.

I am simultaneously bored and frustrated by this show. Bored because there are long stretches where like, nothing happens of consequence. Like it’s a French movie. Frustrated because when they DO have a scene that matters, they cut away from it way too quickly. Scenes that I can actually invest in just end and I’m

yeah it wasn’t awesome doing PDX-SEA-LHR-BCN...but the flights back - don’t buy the cheapest fare, guys - were BCN-DUB-JFK-PDX. BCN-DUB-JFK was on Aer Lingus and it suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked. Then I got on Jet Blue for 5 hours and had a row to myself, which helped.
