Thank you, William. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I finished Nioh 1 a while ago and got excited about the sequel. It looks great but in all the reviews I read so far, the loot system is only mentioned in passing.

I’d say, if you’re focusing on length of play (to last 2 weeks+), Persona 5 Royal wins by a wide margin. No matter what mini-games and side activities FFVII Remake could potentially possess, Persona 5 Royal will have exponentially more to do, for good and for bad (as it wears on a bit near the end of its run time).
There’s a good Lyndsay Ellis video comparing the relative merits and faults of WotW and Independence Day.
Enjoy the Gwent! There’s a lot of it, and it’s not like Witcher 3 Gwent at all! :D
Try and play it on an emulator, see if you like it. It’s a roguelike and it definitely is not a genre for everyone, I went in blind only with my love of the franchise and I particularly liked it, but it can be a handful at times. The story though will be the best you ever seen in the franchise, real tearjerker at the…
Am I crazy or did it look like those new legendary birds were Galarian versions of Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos?
To be fair, the 200 Pokémon will be added to the game in a free update. They won’t be catchable, but if you have Home or someone willing to trade with you you can still use them.
This was an excellent read.
I usually don’t have time to read the Kotaku features, so I fully expected to browse the first couple of paragraphs and move on.
Excellent article. Thank you Maddy, for writing it up, and for all you’ve done.
Fantastic write up, Maddy. And thank you for reminding me how utterly shitty Bioshock Infinite’s politics are.
Jeezus Christ, seeing someone my age die really hurts the soul. She had so much potential to do so much more. My condolences to her loved ones
Well that's a good reason! And you and me both.
Obra Dinn was last year! It was my favorite game of 2018, hands down. I wish I could wipe my memory and play it again.
Honestly, I have platted every single game in the Soulsbourne pantheon (most of them multiple times), and Sekiro is way, waaaaaaay harder than any of them. Like an order of magnitude harder, seriously. Supposedly difficult Souls series opponents like Ornstein & Smough or Four Kings can easily be bulldozed with the…
Being able to build yourself as a “sneaky” Big Daddy and impale people on a drill was pretty darn good. I’d go so far as to say while Bioshock is the better game, Bioshock 2 is more fun to revisit.
When Riley reminded me of this game, I said “of course!!” so loudly that I got a few looks in the office. Echo is a stealth game in which enemies learn how to perform whatever actions you do. At first, they know how to walk around, and that’s about it. Whenever the lights are on in the strange facility you’re…
Everybody play Sleeping Dogs immediately. The steam version is constantly on sale and has everything.
Seconded. Joelle’s reviews are outstanding. They’re as good as anything that the AV Club put out in its prime.
This is s very fair critique of the recap. I love Laurie, and I wanted to explore what bring her back at this juncture meant for her character and for the show. Next week I’ll focus more on what’s on the screen. Thanks for taking the time to read it.
