Yeah, sounds like they should have held back on the moral quandaries when the subject in question is basically a central gameplay mechanic.

If their partners are going to bitch about interrupted marketing plans in the face of a 6.7 earthquake, then their partners can go fuck themselves.
I’ve certainly been levelling up my classic video game quote trivia stat these past weeks.
My quick rounds of the internet seemed to suggest Mega Man 2 was the best of the NES-era entries, so I’m glad to hear the later titles have a lot going for them as well.
Boy. On one hand, good on Nintendo for delaying their direct in the face of local tragedy. They’re right, barelling forward WOULD have been tacky. Especially foe their domestic audience.
My name is Guybrush Threepwood, and I want to be a pirate!
That’s the benefit of having this big, single environment, and it does make The Sexy Brutale feel distinct from a lot of other games. Whole thing has a “what if Majora’s Mask was set in a jazzy, late Nineties LucasArts game” vibe I am really into.
Thanks, it was a rough one but I wasn’t really scared. There was about 5 min when bikes were falling over and I saw a trash can tumble by, I was like “this is intense, definitely the worst one I’ve experienced so far” but it wasn’t until I started watching twitter feeds and coverage, I realized how bad it was. Worst…
Okay, a little bit of gaming this week. First up, I’m having a blast playing the original Baldur’s Gate. This week, I didn’t do too much, just hit the Friendly Arm Inn and recruited Khalid & Jaheira to my party alongside Imoen (that’s 4 of my version of whatever ‘canon’ party is for the adventure. Next week, I’ll be…
If you’re looking for something else, have you finished Life Is Strange already? Funny how you have two “time-rewind games” back to back recently.
Yeah, my SO’s family is from there and while her parental house is fine, her friend’s house is destroyed. Her mom is now making 60 onigiri for the neighbourhood every day. The community spirit is strong which can be a godsend in tough times like these. (shout out to the old dude for lending me soap in the sento too)
I’ve been helping my wife play Witcher 3. She loves the fantasy type story but is terrified by all the monsters you have to fight. She dies a lot even though the game is on the easiest difficulty level. It’s really, really funny.
If my living room isn’t terribly hot this weekend, I will likely finish the main game of Dark Souls Remastered and possibly the Artorias DLC. My Strength/Faith build character (which is my comfort zone, build-wise) only has to defeat the Lower New Londo Ruins and the Four Kings and all that will be left is Gwynn and…
Bad week for different parts of the country. Glad you’re well and it at least sounds like services are starting to be restored on Hokkaido, but I’m sure the remote places will be far more difficult to get back to normal...crazy that Nintendo’s Direct delay announcement was the first I heard of that earthquake...
Happy Friday!
I picked up Dragon Quest XI this week and managed to fit in about 5 hours of playtime. So far, it plays a lot like Dragon Quest VIII: it’s very plot-driven, character advancement happens via skill points, and you’re scouring every inch of the map to find hidden treasures. I’m here for it.
I’m really glad you’re OK over there. I hope you’re able to find a great single player game with which to connect and recuperate. Have a wonderful time with Pyre. Still haven’t gotten to it myself, but it’s in my queue.
“Hi Jack. I know you’re on a dangerous infiltration mission in which American democracy and maybe reality itself are being exposed as a sham, but if you don’t mind I’d like to stop you for a minute while I ask some Voight-Kampff questions about where our relationship is going.”
On the docket for this weekend:
Well, it’s not as though it’s surprising The Sexy Brutale is right up my alley, and t’s for the most part a really good, solid experience. The game’s mansion is this wonderful paean to unrestrained, grotesque decadence, a combination of cultural styles and tastes I’ve gotten nowhere near to catching in total. Most of…
