DQXI looks really cool, right? I'm impressed with both directions it's taking - the 2D/3D hybrid version for 3DS and the really slick hi-def version for everything else. I've never seen a 2D/3D hybrid before, so I might have to pick that version on principle, but it was neat to see an RPG so rooted in artificiality

This weekend, I'll be playing Pokemon Sun, which has rapidly swallowed up all of my gaming time. It's really got its hooks in me this point, as I'm pushing 200 Pokemon in my Alolan Pokedex. Partially, of course, this is thanks to trades with Gameological's @Drinking_with_Skeletons:disqus and @LordStoneheart. Thanks

super HOT, super HOT

Yes it did!

Nice shout-out to Wet. I had to look that one up, as it sounded familiar, and I got quite a chuckle.

I'm in the same boat with you. The actual mechanics of the game were a barrier to me appreciating its narrative, so I ended up bailing towards the end of the Bloody Baron quest. I might return to it later, but I found that I was never getting any better at the battles, and that exploration was hampered by regularly

There's a pretty good chance you won't struggle at all - my opinion seems to be a distant outlier. Good luck!

Me too! To be fair, it did turn up on their mid-year list of the best games, and it's possible that there will be a third entry in this year-end review series.

For a 7 year old… hm… My nephews of that age have a bunch of 3DS games I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole that they enjoy immensely (the Lego or Marvel titles), so I might not have too much insight. I know Mario Kart 7 is supposed to be great (and it's the only one in the series where you can play as Queen Bee -

Hahaha, go for it!

The Witness didn't pop up either. I'd expect a Part Three, but there are always great games that are going to fall through the cracks.

Lousy planet: get your timing sorted out, damn it.

Holy crap, I haven't played Skyrim since 2012, so I wasn't aware people had made cool new areas. It's like a whole new world opened up - might need to revisit the game next year.

It's kind of amazing how badly Niantic botched the execution of such a sure-fire success. I still appreciate what the app did during the summer, as the article discusses above, but a few minor tweaks could have turned it into a long-lasting success.

Kudos for jumping back in - it's a surprisingly good time right now for games, especially on the 3DS. That said, I just want to clarify with you - the Gameboy is long since discontinued, and the last iteration of that console, the Game Boy Advance, hasn't been manufactured since 2005. I think what you're looking for

You're making me want to play this game! Hopefully they get the PC version kinks ironed out someday.

That's intriguing - I hadn't heard that it shared a map, but that's hard to imagine given that FC4 is set in the modern era while FCP is set in an imagined prehistory. That would be pretty cool to depict the same space ten-thousand years apart, though.

The only ones I've played (Pokemon Sun, Bravely Second, and Severed) are all great!

Do you mean old school RPGs on the Gameboy console? If so, I think Final Fantasy Legend is generally considered to be among the best. If you are referring to modern games that evoke old Gameboy JRPGs, I'd suggest Bravely Default and its sequel, Bravely Second, on the 3DS. They are probably the most effective games at

Yesterday I put up my Games I Liked, so I was thinking today I might put up a couple of other odd categories. Please do the same!
