Mine too! Today's bleak enough that my tuna salad (a recipe of which I'm quite proud, despite being the simplest thing in the world) brought a smile to my face. It's small potatoes, but I really needed something to keep from crying.

Whew, it'll be tough to get my mind off of YOU KNOW WHAT, but let's give it a shot!
It feels weirdly like mourning.
As a historian and archivist, I tend to take the long view, but I'll be damned if 2016 isn't an outright terrible year.
I'm going to try getting prepped for Mario Kart too. I'm so excited for our election night tourney!
I suppose this is coming in quite late, but I'm attending a conference and wasn't able to comment at my normal time on Friday morning.
That's so weird! At least I happened to get the companion I would have picked, but it's a shame I won't get to run into Ricky the Boxing Kangaroo again.
I was pretty disappointed by the changes, but also heartened that they included a truly nothing portion of Maryland, Point Lookout, in the DLC. I really need to go back and play that some time, since I'm very familiar with the real Point Lookout and it's likely the only time it will ever appear in a video game.
That's great. I gather it's not especially different on 3DS or Wii U, since they all rely on the touch interface. That studio really has a good handle on their color palette, don't they?
If you had to jump into one fantasy thing, you sure picked a great one! I enjoyed Skyrim quite a bit when I played it back on the Xbox 360. The remaster is tempting, especially as I've never played it on a fancy PC (which I now have), but I'll have to wait for a really great sale. Are you playing the new shiny one or…
Wow, I didn't know about any of those things! Aside from the animal partners, of course. I've encountered all (?) three in the course of Seasons, but I only have an item to summon Moosh; does that mean I chose him?
I just beat Oracle of Ages earlier this year, and it's so good! I've been enjoying Seasons even more, so you have that to look forward to if you've never played either game. It's really cool how they turn whichever you play later into a sequel - not sure I've seen that implemented anywhere else.
It's funny that Fallout 3 would come across as primitive at this point (and I agree that it does), because I distinctly remember being overseas back in 2008 and thinking how much I wanted to get home and play Fallout; it was the coolest looking thing at that time and I lived in the geographical area it covers. I was…
No kidding? That's good to hear - the Wii U and 3DS had a pretty great summer for indie games, and I'm slowly catching up. I've only briefly played Guacamelee, but loved it, and Severed keeps popping up on the eShop for me. So tempting!
That's pretty funny! For one reason or another I bounced off White/Black, but intend to go back to them someday. I was exactly the right age for that series when it debuted in the US, so I've kind of grown up with it. Glad to hear it's still appealing to those both younger and older than me!
After last week's chili discussion here, I planned to make some over the weekend but got sidetracked into making a Chickpea Stew instead. It turned out well, and my we ate it for days, but it was a pale shadow of chili.
GAMES THREAD
This sounds fascinating. I've been kind of sleeping on the Civilization scene since I was disappointed by V, but VI looks like it ticks all the right boxes. I'll add it to my Steam/GOG wishlists, to be purchased in some ideal future sale alongside current heavy hitters like Dark Souls 3, XCOM 2, and Hearts of Iron IV.
I've been thinking about this a little bit as I've been replaying the Mega Man series. If for nothing else, the Mega Man Legacy Collection is cool for how quickly you can play through the first six games and witness the visual overhaul they did without significantly altering the core aesthetic or mechanics. As…
Great call! Lone Survivor is indeed terrifying, though some portions necessarily fall short of others on this element. It would be a great Halloween game, since it's not even that long.
