Oh my, I'd never heard the Butterfree/Venomoth thing! Those games are so full of secrets and weird design quirks that they stand out to me as the peak of fan speculation and exploration. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for calling attention to that space between the colossus death and the tendril grab. On my first play through the game, I'm not sure I ever stopped trying to evade the tendrils, despite the fairly clear signs that they were unavoidable. It's one of gaming's most perfect marriages of mechanics and themes - the

The game as released ended up being one of the medium's crowning achievements so far. Cutting the remaining Colossi was definitely the right call, though there's a part of you that would love an Apocalypse Now Redux scenario where an expanded version gets released someday.

You're too kind!

Woohoo, I made it onto Keyboard Geniuses! Glad my Paper Mario ramblings made sense. I'm eagerly awaiting the delivery of my copy of Color Splash right now!

Yaaaaay welcome back Fluka. Hopefully this post isn't just a fluke-a. A hah a hah.

That's delightfully odd.

Awesome clip - made me laugh. Truly, you are one of the stars of the internet.

You can indeed! That's likely how I'll be joining on the 8th, as my wife and I are celebrating our 3rd Anniversary but both enjoy Mario Kart so much, haha.

I'm so happy that WAYPTW is highlighting another bonkers Mario 64 mod. The chaos one from earlier this year was good fun, so it'll be nice to see this one in action as well.

Heck yeah! Paper Jam remains my favorite of the Mario & Luigi series, though Thousand Year Door is continuing to steal my heart on the Paper Mario side. Wherever Paper Jam falls in the rankings, it's definitely a classic experience.

They don't have engines or wheels, but if you squint just right…

I think part of it may genuinely be their perfectionist tendencies.

That issue with the content already on the Wii store is even more baffling, you're right.

The implementation of the 2D/3D thing with an SMB3 stage recreation in Color Splash looks utterly delightful. I always thought that was the great contribution of Super Paper Mario (having played it very briefly once), but it seems that flipping 2D and 3D was not a gameplay mechanic that was followed-up upon.

Oh man, this flies in direct opposition to what a good buddy of mine was telling me recently - Super Paper Mario is his favorite Paper Mario title. Who to believe… I haven't ever played it, but expect to next year as I catch up on the Paper Mario series after my complete Zelda playthrough.

It might be worth checking this out: https://www.youtube.com/wat…. The coliseum and archaeological dig scenes are what finally sold me on the game. Very funny stuff.

If memory serves, this information came from an interview with Rise Tabata at E3 2016.

The funny thing is that Gamecube games are very playable on the Wii U through alternative software. They look pretty crummy due to the lower resolution, and adding that software is unsafe, as it voids your warranty, but it does make you kind of wonder why they aren't available natively. It's very nice that Nintendo

That's a good catch on the "pointless" battles - I hadn't considered it in that context.
