And you’re driving a performer! I’ll bet you’ve been running laps around your neighbors, if the lap you’re measuring is your neighborhood to the dealer and back.

So its really a hybrid engine: 2 parts gas to 1 part coolant. Got it.

Well, they’re.... corporate cousins. Its sort of like GM back in the day, before one make was necessarily more mainstream, one performance, and one premium/luxury.

They could hide prototypes behind fake body parts. So it’d really be an Elan Mask.

We’ll know if there’s even a good chance that it was SpaceX’s fault in a few weeks, when the Falcon 9 is supposed to launch satellites for SES/Luxembourg and Paz from Spain.

1st Gear - at what point do we stop talking about the Big 3 and instead, the Big 2 and Little One? I’m thinking it should have already happened, but going forward...

Exactly. And just because FCA has to release information to everyone simultaneously doesn’t mean that a billionaire Chinese investor can’t be leaking information, or that the people at Goldman Sachs who handle the automotive industry haven’t noticed that their buddies who handle M&A haven’t been swinging by *a lot*

Whoever designed the Lexus ‘Predator’ grille, and whoever adapted it for Toyota needs to be fired (and legally prevented from doing any design work ever again).

I’m late to this party, but on top of all the other stupid crap:

Not to mention that there’s generally broad restrictions on doing things that would limit insurance coverage or mortgage notes on a unit, precisely so that the HOA can’t shoot itself in the foot like this.

OMG, I don’t want to ask, but I kind of want to ask.... what’d they try sticking you with?

That may be true, but if you’re going to fight something the HOA is doing, putting your objections in writing - preferably in a letter sent by certified mail - can help establish the facts of the case as you see them.

Fine, but municipal codes can also control things like that, and unlike HOAs, there’s clear democratic governance, each person gets a vote rather than some computed % of ownership, and there’s a clearer process of appeal to deal with bad policy. (I say this as a current HOA president.)

It did. I remember getting in my friend’s dad’s Benz around that time, and thinking something along the lines of “wait, this thing actually still has a carphone?”

Look, I know you just want to yell at people, but:

It’s going to be so much harder to use the new A-class (or the Stinger) as a calculator!!!!! How are you supposed to do math without a ton of center-mounted physical buttons?!

I really don’t know if that’s true; Kias tend to have pretty good reliability these days; the point of complaint with cheap Chinese phones is/was that they didn’t work properly.

I don’t know; I think the side-mounted circle vents on the Mercedes look like they were copy-pasted just for the sake of the uniformity. They stick out, which I don’t want an air vent to do, ever.

That’s always really bothered me. Even relatively high-end vehicles use lower-resolution resistive touchscreens that are outclassed by a $90 tablet.

There isn’t nearly enough thought amongst car designers about the side effects of screens in the car.
