In general I agree with you, persuasive discussion sometimes helps. But that wouldn’t have been the case here, she was giving a speech, not sitting down with folks of opposing views to discuss them, so I doubt anything terribly productive would have happened

I haven’t been in high school for 10 years (jesus christ i feel old now) but I don’t remember there ever being any restrictions on what we could or couldn’t wear to prom. Also my girlfriends and I would always pair off if we didn’t have a date because the couple tickets were cheaper split than the single tickets were.
