To be fair, that was a weird shot. When I first watched the episode it did seem like she was "there for a reason", but then the reason turned out to be "atmosphere".

Really not sure why people try and apply "action" or "thriller" to the show. It's one of the slowest - in the best way - shows on TV.

I get the impression that they're setting Karen up to take Ben Ulrich's comic role, which I am fully on board with.
