Back at the old firm somebody used to send us poop. Not pleasant if you are opening the post. But they were small envelopes and I used to think that whoever sent them got what they deserved when they licked them to seal them up.

There seems to be a thing this year for smoked salmon that has been edged with gold. Not sure how this goes down with the beetroot infusion, but it looks kind of pretty with that, gravalox, and few other varieties. 

By the way, what is an “Italian Depth-Charge”? I mean, I know what a hysgytlaeth is, but the depth charge threw me.

There used to be a place called Bug World in Albert Docks, Liverpool which did a line of edible critters. Told my nephew about Great-Grandpa farming snails while he was holding a giant African snail. There is a show running at the moment, Britain’s Christmas Story, with Gareth Malone and Karen Gibson which had a Medieval Mince Pie segment. Mutton rather than pork though.

Dates as a superfood has passed me by in the styx, though I did buy a pack last week. Not sure about a rise either? It seems to me they’ve always been around but always took a front-and-centre spot in the greengrocer around Christmas. Maybe it’s just their time to shine again?
