It's frustrating for sure. Things have got much better since e-retail has become more prominent, but the conversion is still never simply monetary. It's a shame there aren't more consumer groups questioning where this increase in cost comes from.

Sure, go for Marantz or Yamaha if you can afford it (not sure on Pioneer). I was on a budget and only need the AV receiver for home cinema. I stand by my recommendation. Mine does not run particularly hot as I leave a good clearance above it.
