+1 for HP's Microserver's. Picked up an N40L about 6 months ago for around £120 after cashback. Now running 2X3TB WD Red's on Unraid in a RAID5 config. Very quiet and low power consumption.

I also have bought N40L on cashback deal. Incredible value!!! I have Unraid installed on mine which I have found to be fantastic so far. Interesting on the GPU upgrade tho, may consider this and then use existing HTPC in a different room.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. I'm currently looking to add a parity drive and this may make me reconsider.

This is a great idea. Would this work if I added something.com/something# before my lastpass bookmarklet and then emailed to myself on my iphone?

Lifehacker really should not be missing the following DIY Nas off these articles. Fantastic value with cashback!! http://www.ebuyer.com/281915-hp-proliant-turion-ii-n40l-microserver-100-cashback-658553-421?utm_source=google&utm_medium=products

I have MCE standby tool, but where can I find the batch scripts?

This would be great if it didn't drain the battery! iPhone4 running iOS 5.1.1

NEIIO!!!!! Looking good. That's some speedy work.

I've got a massive gripe. In Eden release of XBMC on Windows (Acer Aspire Revo), XBMC.exe crashes when resuming from sleep if I have wake on lan enabled in the BIOS. This is a problem which I am unable to find a solution to anywhere online.

What exactly does Lifehacker get from publishing an article like this? If people can't work this out on their own they should just stick with torrents. They can automate just fine with the RSS feature on utorrent.

Playlist sorting is for iPad app only!!! :-(

Not sure about in the US, but here in the UK HP are still offering £100 cash back on HP N40L Micro Server. http://image.ebuyer.com/customer/promos/pdf/pa0074-hpmicroserver100pound-cashback.pdf

Now Microsoft need to follow suit.

I use this HP MCE Remote and then occasionally accompany it with XBMC Constellation iPhone app. http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/xbmc-constellation/id437807301?mt=8 I'm quite surprised how few people use an official Media Centre remote. I can use it to power HTPC from sleep and also to run XBMC for Windows. The keypad

There is an activator setting for showing the Call Bar options, but no activator for hiding it??

I'd just like to report that the syncing app seems to be a memory hog.

Pulse is awesome! The web app has been over a year in the making. It's pretty good, but I was expecting slightly more. They need to make the resolution higher and text smaller and redesign UI to maximise screen space usage.
