The whole point here is that taking off the makeup is altering his usual appearance. Shouldn't the license match what he looks like all the time? A lack of makeup is misrepresenting his identity, not the presence of it.

It's very, very easy to say what you would have done in certain situations, isn't it? Ladies are brought up to be nice. To not rock the boat. To not anger the person they're on a date with.
