“The first thing I’m thinking is there’s some pedophile trying to buy my grandson an Xbox,” Watts’ grandmother Saundra said. “So I’m like, I’m going to bust up in there and bust his bubble.”
“Choose to like more than one thing” is a great point. All good art is better when influenced by your experience of other art.
I love the show. I am a fan, but nowhere in the ballpark as most of these people. We all like different things, and that is fine. Choose to like more than one thing though. I’ve seen too many friends get sucked into the fandom world, and it is frustrating. There is a weird tipping point where fans stop enjoying…
I definitely have to agree with your fandom take. The term is being a little more widely adopted, but as a general rule of thumb, I think it’s safe to say that people who consider themselves fans of something are usually harmless, while people who consider themselves part of a fandom are usually toxic.
I find with the bulk of people who use the word “fandom” as something other than a pejorative, they are almost uniformly awful to be around. Geeks are worse than obnoxious drunk sports fans.
Are you installing to an SSD? Using a faster hard drive for your Steam installs almost entirely alleviates this issue.
Co-op is the only reason I enjoy 5. I think a lot of shortcomings with the game are forgivable when you can laugh at them with a friend.
I agree! There were some genuinely decent moments in 6 and the globe hopping story lent it some memorable environments. If they hadn’t been set on including soo much content; trimmed out the stuff that didn’t and polished the stuff that did, I feel it would have gotten a much better reception.
nope. re6 was too bloated. 4 campaigns, too many QTEs, and a complicated intersecting timeline is too much. re5 had a better melee system, tighter storyline/progression, and much better mercenaries mode.
Resident Evil 6 was way way way way better than the trainwreck of 5. It at least tried to innovate a little with varying degrees of success. Leon was the “survival horror” section, Ada was “stealth”, Chris was “i’m a fucking roided out douchebag that no one cares about and of all the characters why did they bring ME…
I was listening to this at work on iTunes and found the segment with Tom very enlightening. As a guy who has collaborated on creative projects before, I can fully agree with the compromises in vision you have to make in order to cross the finish line.
I’ve started transcribing chunks of Splitscreen and will hopefully continue to do so because I know you guys appreciate that, but transcribing an entire hour-long podcast every week is just not practical!
I agree. This third season has been exceptional, but I have to admit that I did really enjoy the ‘Purge’ episode... and a few others akin to it as well. Maybe the occasional ‘silly’ or ‘loose’ episode acts as a sort of palate-cleanser for when we have to swallow the really tough stuff!
Is “good enough” going to be enough for everyone else, though?
This will be a cool option to explore in Team Fortress 3.
I really really like this game, one of the best this year by far, but the fenris fight highlighted one of my only gripes with the game.
It took me forever to beat Fenrir because my runes took forever to heal and that’s the only way to hurt him. Then I realized even though your sword bounced off you got focus for hitting it and that made it so much better. Fun and creepy sequence overall though.
Also... if you’re playing a ‘Hitler’ game and you don’t know what ‘nein’ means without translation, you don’t deserve an explanation.
