The issue is not only the price of the car, as it may have seemed in my post, but the overall living situations. Picture below (Slums)-

Genuine question - why does Toyota not sell the Hilux in the US anymore?

They travel by train NOT because of the quality of the roads, but because the cars are un-affordably by some segments of the population. No car loans there, unlike the ones here.

FWIW -

Dude, they “stole” the base from JLR (yes, they own them), stole the platform from GM, name from Toyota, and your $$ when people (in India at least) plunk it down and it sells like hot cakes, which I am sure it will...

Now that you mention it, it does makes sense.

Lexus outranks Toyota by a wide margin (842 vs 809). This is more than Acura - Honda. Similar for Infinity - Nissan. Would be interested to know the quality/ APEAL differences.

Thats the beauty of this country - one state to challenge the dimwits in power now. At least its for a common good to reduce emissions in this case. Whats wrong with that. Making money in all the places all the time at whatever the cost is what this government wants, and I am happy people are fighting back.

You also captured (albeit by accident, I think) a Japanese car in the background - a tC.. relevant to the topic here...

Riiiiiiiiiighhhhhttt

.. whatever the reason was, it wasn’t worth any the truck driver deserved ALL of this.

soo... not a road-side jack-the-car-up kind of oil change it looks like...

A few things -

Very nice story. Thanks for sharing. Great pics, and thanks for sharing that as well...

TL, did not read more than the first few lines -

I might be, but why would it matter when we are all gonna die one day ;)

Looks like it varies by state -what stats are you in?

though getting it registered to drive on the street can be, um, tricky

Add more stickers, you’ll get more power...

Didn’t they go with the Camry engine instead? Jeremy Clarkson, (or was it Hammond?) reviewed it in a TG episode the season before he got fired.... he had good things to say about it..
