As you pass the center, would the reverse kind of happen - where you start slowing down as there is nothing to pull you “down” at the southern end? You end up on the southern end with 0 velocity, just as you started?

Not sure why, but this story made me happy! Either because he’s a cop into cars, and can perhaps understand car guys, or because of that nice R32 - clean and neat, especially the engine bay.
Maybe I missed this part - If it’s battery operated, does it have a on-off switch? At the end of your trip when you park and lock the car, does the sensor still keep sending the signal to your phone if someone behind you comes too close?
I drove mine in 2014. Was real excited about the car, and now that I think about it, it WAS a Hybrid. This was the time when everyone was excited about going Hybrid, more so than now-a-days.

The only thing sport about electric steering, or in your case, is you wrestling with the steering wheel to keep going straight. I haven’t made so many turns just to go straight. NEVER RENTING A HYUNDAI AGAIN.
True story - even a 125 HP ‘96 Camry can lose traction on wet road - mine did on an on-ramp, and hit the guard rail. I still have scratch marks on my wrists where the airbags deployed. You gotta respect the rain and the weak traction it gives us!
