Not sure if it will matter, but it's not a novel Jimmy is reading on his break, but David Niven's wonderful autobiography 'The Moon's a Balloon'. (read it, it's great)

Seems misguided to me. Taking revenge on individual Nazis rather than the whole system is going to be a key reversal once I start working for the Resistance.

Why would the Resistance want to leak the tape so the Nazis kill Smith? Surely the point of the Resistance killing him was for the propaganda benefits - look, we *can* fight back, we aren't powerless - but if Smith is just punished by Nazis for breaking their own laws, then (presumably) just replaced with another

Oh, agreed. I certainly don't think they're out to crack America - although Craig Finn from The Hold Steady did pick 'Tied Up in Nottz' as his song of the summer! - but there is a fair amount of love for British culture on here generally. I mean, this is a site that's reviewing 30 year old Young Ones episodes.

No love for Sleaford Mods? Not even in the comments?

Pretty sure he did embrace it in good humour - see live covers of Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme or this medley of He's Got the Whole World in His Hands / Always Look on the Bright Side of Life / 1969 - http://www.youtube.com/watc…

Jim Bowen: "Come and look at what you could have won" {showcase reel of The Wire} "Sadly, all you've got is your BFH"

The CDs part had me crying. Most people I know had at least two of those three soundtracks (Grosse Pointe Blank, Singles and Pulp Fiction).

His second book, The Tesseract, was kind of meh, then he discovered screenwriting (28 Days Later, Sunshine) and I don't think he's been back to novels since.

Kind of off-topic, but am I the only one who didn't know Noel and Donna were married?

On the left, next to Stefan Dennis

My favourite thing about VU is that despite all the heroin, S&M/fetish touchstones and so on, Moe Tucker was still able to turn into the right-wing, raving loony-grandma that every family seems to have.

I also saw them on the original Doolittle tour (in Nottingham, UK), and then again last year (Charleston, SC), where the kid next to me was celebrating his 21st birthday.
You've never felt as old as you do standing next to a 21 year old who wasn't born the first time you saw that band.

"History as we know it is a lie"
As a big X-Files fan, I was so excited about this at the time. But it was laugh-out-loud bad for the first 5 or 6 episodes I saw, before giving up. Kind of intrigued to see the later episodes after reading this.

Major Tom
Ashes to Ashes didn't quite put Major Tom to rest, though - he reappeared on the version of 'Hallo Spaceboy' Bowie did with the Pet Shop Boys. I think Neil Tennant wrote that part though:
