As someone who has been a staunch Playstation owner and thoroughly bought into that ecosystem, Xbox Series S may be the best deal in town.

Its a barebones current gen console with an extensive BC back library and essentially free AAA games monthly. 

The small SSD sucks, lack of a disc drive sucks, the fact that current gen games can only live on the SSD (or a pricey expansion SSD) sucks.

I have had my Series S for exactly one year and I LOVE it! It was the perfect Game Pass machine, and it still plays modern games decently well, older games often times get an uplift to 60fps and render in higher resolutions.
