I wrote this elsewhere, but even as a not entirely traditional person, I really only cared about the ceremony. I wouldn’t have cared if my sister wore this for photos or during the reception or interrupted our first dance or whatever. But to me the ceremony is the only part of the wedding that is actually important,

The bride/sister may be an actual saint. The MOH/sister has a CLEAR need to be the center of attention at all times.

It’s not a joke, it’s a giant middle finger at spending thousands of dollars and putting ungodly amounts of pressure on ourselves just to please a bunch of people who, in the end, only want free food and drinks

Except that there aren’t “far better” alternatives for the price and quality. Funny how Apple haters always leave those parts out. lol I’ll criticize Apple where they deserve it, but just because a product is Apple doesn’t mean it is automatically overpriced or overhyped, etc. In some cases, as in the case of the

Yup, this is a know in traffic planning. Predicting to relieve congestion just promotes congestion at a higher level. The counter is true as well: reducing the capacity of a route reduces the journeys in total - they don’t just go somewhere else.

I don't think people realize how many closeted bisexuals there are. The caveat is not that "some" people were missed. It's got to be the majority of bisexuals calling themselves heterosexual. The caveat is so huge that the study lost almost all value.

I identity as gay. I’ve never believed it was an innate genetic component of DNA anymore that my liking dark chocolate and the smell of lavender are locked into my DNA.

Rather, they argue, our sexual preferences are influenced by a complex mix of our genes, environment, and life experiences.

False. I'm pretty sure I used to work with a gay Gene. Nice guy.

I do not care about the fee-fees of any person who commits such an atrocity. I grab remotes and correct settings any time it is wrong. The worst is when they have clearly off colors (outside of cinemotion/motion interpolation set to “on” as this is arguably the worst) - like when reds look like super dark velvety red.

Re: The Hobbit in HFR, I was torn on the effect. During daylight scenes, yes, it was SO VIVID and clear that you could tell everything was fake. The costumes looked made up like someone at a costume party, and the weapons looked like the plastic and rubber that they were. However, the dark scenes were fantastic, with

Sure, except for the part where a drone through an engine intake is bad for engines.

My inlaws have this setting on their TV (and zoom for some reason ACK!), but I’ve never found their TV remote when they’re away to fix it. They just have a universal remote and I’ve never figure out how to get to the TV settings with it. It makes me so upset whenever we visit.

for video games, it’s a totally different story, as it’s a totally different, animated, self-controlled experience. Above comment only applies to films and TV.

I love them dearly, but my parents are these people. I walked into their house the other day and they were watching a movie through their cable in standard definition on their beautiful 60" TV, and the aspect ratio was all fucked up. The picture was stretched out and grainy and all weird. When I asked what they were

One of the most traumatic things I have ever experienced/frequently re-experience is walking into Costco, into a seething wall of enormous TVs with motion interpolation turned on. I end up destroying 3 or 4 TVs every single time. I currently owe Costco $350,000. But I’m slowly working off my debt as a member of the

Oh man, I recently watched an old episode of Enterprise with that damn motion smoothing on. It made it feel like an episode of ‘70s Doctor Who. Oof.

Specific to this article, what’s so evil about telling your employees to stop bickering at the water cooler and get back to the job they’re paid to do?

No. Manufactured sand has different properties than natural sand

Yes, my parents are about as bad as it gets. They invited the family to watch the super bowl and hang out, and they were watching it in standard def. I’m not even nice about it anymore, i just grab the remote and switch it to the high def channel.
