For $200 it better come with a fleshlight attachment.

What, no fleshlight joke? :D

Fucking monorail. Hey, if for some really stupid reason I need to get from the Space Needle to Westlake Mall and absolutely nowhere in between, I'll ride that bitch all day....lol

Okay, that was America-centric. Allow me to revise:

Yeah I really need to buy a bike. I lived in LA for a couple years, carless, and biked all over the place, but the bike broke (it was cheap) and I didn't bring it with me here. And I totally could bike from Indian School to Van Buren (my commute) probably faster than the light rail. I am looking forward to the bike

Ah, but there's the endless loop of shitty public transit. It will always be shitty until more people use it, but more people wont use it because it's shitty = shitty public transit is eternal.

I live in Springfield MO, and if you don't have a vehicle then you can't do anything. Around here there aren't any skyscrapers or tall buildings because the ground is full of limestone and can't support it. Also, sinkholes are a problem because limestone dissolves over time. So in essence, our cities grow out and

Not sure your exact location, but I live in Tempe, drive to a convenient park-and ride- with free all-day covered parking, arrive when my train is scheduled (which has always been within 0-5 mins of schedule), and get to Washington and Central in the same time it would take to drive!

"outside of New York City"?

As a city person who lives in a resource challenged part of Chicago, public transportation is inaccessible, unreliable, and soul sucking. I spend no less than one hour, and spent upwards of 2.5 hours on public transportation. No thanks. Driving cuts that to 40 minutes.

even if it was improved people wouldn't use it. we dont have the population density to support it. Sure I could spare the 1.5 hrs a bus would add to my 1 hour commute (with no traffic) not to mention I would have to be there a certain time because buses only run once or twice every hour. The only way to alleviate that

People living in Seattle/Tacoma area would disagree. I could drive to classes in about 20-25 mins. Taking the bus ment two transfers and 3 hours of time. This is one way. So the time I saved from not riding the bus allowed me to have a job to pay for rent and the car I drove every day to class.

I so agree. In my town by driving any given a-b trip is 10-15 min, by bus 45 min on average one way. On top of that the bus schedules and routes are erratic at best often making you rush through your errands so you can hopefully catch the next bus and not be stranded for an hour especially if you were grocery shopping

I thought the same. I live in Los Angeles and I try to take the bus as much as I can, but when a bus passes the stop I am at for reasons I can't identify (usually over crowded) and the next bus comes in 45 min- 1 hr which puts me off schedule for the rest of my transfers, thereby making my normally 30-45 minute drive

DC Metro.

Its simple, as a rule public transport will always get you to not quite where you want to be at not quite the time you want to be there.

No. It also doesn't go anywhere I want to go in less than two hours.

LA?

Aren't they cute?

For a significant amount of us, Public Transportation is laughably unreliable and doesn't get you anywhere you need to be.
