I think it's really odd that they went from a naming scheme that was very neutral (cats) to one that is "state-centric" . Will they be naming each new OS version with a landmark from every state or just California? Can we expect a La Brea Tar Pit OS ? Or a Little Big Horn update?

You know that I was joking about the X-wave, right?

Wow. Christ, this is horrible:

I like the features, but not the look. The icons look amateurish (the circular elements are terribly oversized, and the lack of border and perceived depth doesn't look "inviting" for touch), the frosted glass effect is kinda impressive (for 2006), and it certainly doesn't look any "neater" than the old look. I prefer

I'll say it. Those icons SUCK. They really, really do. They're ugly as sin and that artist needs a swift kick to the nads for making them look like kiddie blocks (did they hire him from Samsung, perhaps?). Everything else, though? Love. It. I rarely use the home screen except to launch a new app anyway, so the other

I am let down. I guess I kind of figured since Ive is an industrial design god that he must have at least some competence in the UI arena but this... the icons look like a freshman who just took his first class on Illustrator and got the assignment to replicate the iOS home screen; the use of an ultra light weight

They are too crayon box for my taste. It would have been better to have color themes that the user could have chosen: gray scale, warm hues, cool hues, neon, etc. Then all the default Apple apps could have had a cohesive color palette. A don't consider bright crayon colors to be a cohesive palette.

They took it too far. These look childish.

Reminds me of icons from amateur terrible flash games. MY EYES!

I saw that mock up and I thought "No way they are doing that, those things are horrid."

As thrilled as I am about all of the jailbreak hacks they're turning into legit features, this better have an off switch.

My only problem with background updates is this: will I still know exactly what the update entails? Currently you're required to go to the App Store, and there is a list of apps that need to be updated and a description of the update. It's very useful, as some updates are fairly frivolous, while others contain huge

There are a lot of people out there for whom a "simple" swipe to access a menu is beyond comprehension (read: the elderly). Not everyone are Gizmodo reading tech obsessives.

Ditto - I don't have the setting available yet either.

I don't see "Require a verification code when I sign in" on my account settings page. Am I missing something?

"And do you suppose your neighbors who may have died were insufficiently thankful to Him and were denied His tender mercy as a consequence of their lack of faith?"

Yup, who needs easy visual of infrastructures and figuring out directions for themselves.

Also, yellow main roads is an excellent visual identification of infrastructure density - when you're looking at a more zoomed-out view of a city, the areas where there is a higher density of yellow roads is a very clear indication of the density of the area. Now, we get nothing but white roads on light gray

Apparently the author decided to add that AFTER I wrote my comment. This article did not mention ANYTHING about the HTC EVO 3D when I wrote my comment.
