I also suspect, from the scant details in the story, that the flight was originally delayed too - which means that the plane was still leaving later than the original departure time, but not quite as late as originally expected. This screws people up all the time - a minor delay is announced, and rather than sticking

Yeah, Southwest has a far more civilized, orderly boarding process than any other legacy airline. I’m actually surprised the others don’t adopt a version of it, where everyone boards by specific number. Instead, everyone crowds around the door ready to trample when the gate agent yells out an indecipherable zone

Sometimes you’ll find that, due to the airlines’ arcane and bizarre pricing, you can get a ticket from City A to City C, with a stopover in City B (your actual destination), cheaper than a direct flight from A to B.

No, you’re never eligible for compensation for weather delays or cancellations, which aren’t the airline’s fault.

supposed to take off at 3:15, boarding was supposed to start 2:55

Oh man, I’m actually least anxious when I’m on a plane. I struggle with anxiety at work and at home, but when I’m on a long plane ride, it gives me a great opportunity to simply relax, watch a movie, drink a cocktail, and not worry that I’m not doing or missing some critical thing that I’m forgetting about.

Are gays supposed to come out the moment they are born?

It is shitty, and I’m over it. The article was trash, and trying to excuse it or paper over it by gaysplaining to the rest of us that degrading “reading” is inherently part of gay culture is shitty.

(and before anyone brings it up). It’s totally different if you’re flying a long haul intercontinental flight, or red-eye, where the outside daylight doesn’t correspond to the nighttime hours most passengers are operating on, and everyone needs to sleep. I happily keep the shade down for that.

I would guess that flight crews have higher incidences of most cancers, simply because flying at high altitude exposes you to much higher levels of cosmic radiation... which sunscreen won’t protect you from.

Jesus Christ, there’s TONS to see while cruising, if you just look. Most of the time, it isn’t actually covered with clouds. And daylight isn’t “blinding”, unless you literally live in a cave all day.

I’m sitting at the window and keeping it open, unless the sun is low and sunlight is actually streaming in horizontally. Thank you very much. I want to look out the window, not stare at a seatback or plastic wall. If you choose and sit in the window seat, feel free to do whatever you want with it.

I’ve thought It was voice-To-text as well, but that Doesn’t Explain the Capitalization that Appears everywhere In his Tweets.

He would have to change the constitution.

The problem is that basically nobody prior to this week thought the 13 star flag was a racist symbol. It’s not identified as such by the Southern Poverty Law Center, The Anti Defamation League, or any other organization that usually keeps track of this kind of thing. Sure, we can find some examples of racist groups

I think we’re supposed to believe that there aren’t actually that many refugees in Canada. There may be lots of Americans, who left shortly before or after the Gilead takeover, but maybe not many escapees who lived in Gilead for a while.

The public shouting match at the Lincoln Memorial was ridiculous enough, but when it came into focus that she and Serena were waltzing around up there in view of thousands of people on the National Mall... it reminded me of the multiple scenes in Arrested Development where characters continued having a private

it is easier for a minor suffering from depression to get assistance in killing herself than it is for her to get the care she actually needed.

Yeah, it used to be named “Squaw peak” and many of the troglodytes here in Phoenix still call it that.

I live in Phoenix and have hiked on Piestewa Peak - what looks like flat ground here is actually a pretty big slope. There isn’t really a flat part on the mountain. Plus there is a ton of loose rocks and dust - its a desert landscape - so landing really close would have really thrown a lot of stuff around.
