Why WOULDN’T the DNC want closed primaries? The point is to get the most electable member of the Democratic party through the primaries and win in the general. Closed primaries seem like they’d help keep candidates from having to swing left in the primary and then cut center in the general, don’t they?

I don’t understand the argument against closed primaries. Caucuses are far more un-democratic and isn’t it logical for members of a political party to choose their own nominee? Anyone is free to register for whatever party they would like to have a voice in.
