To your question about the birds at the end: at one time, birds (Passenger pigeons and others) flocked in such great numbers that they were said by early settlers to black out the sky for a long time when they alighted. I think that’s what the show was going for. I wondered about it too, until I realized startling a

Something else in the scene with Bonnet and Forbes that I noticed when I watched it again: the man who’s friendly with Bonnet says something to the effect that the crimes Bonnet has committed have been taken care of (by corrupt administrators I assume). That’s how Bonnet can wander around Wilmington again without

If she means it that way (people Jamie has killed directly or indirectly), perhaps her point was their presence together has saved lives and cost others their lives. She alludes that Jamie’s presence saved Brianna’s life when he sent a pregnant Claire through the stones, which is moving.

Oops, I meant “pox-afflicted’ ship.

I agree, the show is operating on the closed loop theory. Claire still believes, though, that every person she’s helped has changed things. But then she says time, space, be damned. So perhaps she just senses it’s a closed loop, without knowing for sure. Claire must know Jamie was the “ghost” that Frank saw before she

I don’t think Jamie and Claire will be separated all season. The episode reminded me of Season 3 when Claire goes off on the pox-inflicted ship and is separated from Jamie for two episodes. Though I hope we see them in the next episode.

In the first five books that I’ve read, Brianna and Roger don’t come across as having the same kind of love as Jamie and Claire at all. Gabaldon has said she added Brianna into the story because she had to have Claire have a child since she was pregnant when Jamie sent her back through the stones. Brianna (or Roger) wa

I’m with you as far as Bri and Roger. I’m not sure why my comment below is still “pending” so sorry for the repetition. There’s no chemistry between them nor do I think they are realistically “in love” despite or actually because of people saying they are.

Perhaps they are still using the inheritance that Jocasta gave to Jamie at River Run.

It’s great to see you back reviewing Outlander Kayla.

I couldn’t agree more with wanting more Jamie and Claire. Roger and Bree are unwatchable. They are utterly boring. Outlander is Jamie and Claire’s love story. They are the leads and the central couple. I hope season 5 recaptures the energy of the first three seasons with focus again on our beloved Claire and Jamie.

I agree, it is a problem.

I’m very late here but am re-watching episodes after Season 4's end. I so agree with your thoughts. I wish they had re-written the second half of the season to alter it from the book (which I haven’t read, only heard about). Everything about this episode felt contrived. And I can’t stand Bree and Roger, a major

We have to agree to disagree. I understand Roger is confused about what happened but he doesn’t give his father-in-law the benefit of the doubt? Especially because Jamie and Claire have come all that way to rescue him and Roger himself says that he thought he was beaten because of what Brianna told Jamie.

Unless they need to go to the network and Sony rather than Tall Ship? Perhaps it was appropriate to go to them first.

Roger has had months to heal from the beating Jamie gave him while believing that Bree told her parents that she wanted to be rid of him (that’s what he at this point suspects). So he knows it may not be completely Jamie’s fault. What kind of person holds onto rage for that long when the reason for the rage is at

I agree.

Claire has had some very good scenes this season. I love the John Grey episode where she tells him how she and Jamie missed out on 20 years together. Then the sensuous scene in the bathtub when Jamie gives her the ring. Love him in that scene too. Sam and Cait portray sensuousness so well. In “The Foxes Lair,” in

Thank you Punkrockoldlady! That is such good news.

In the first three seasons there was a lot of focus on Claire. Jamie too, but a bit more on Claire’s POV. I’m glad that Sam has recently had more focus on his character. He’s such a good actor and he knows the character so well. I’ve also liked that in this season the character of Claire is allowed to show that her
