I wonder about the friend’s reaction. He didn’t seem shocked, it just took him a couple of seconds to come up with a reaction. Like it wasn’t really out of the norm for this guy, but now “uh oh,people can hear you, Bud”.

Even very experienced climbers use supplemental oxygen on Everest. It isn’t the use of oxygen (although the discarded canisters on the mountain are an issue) that’s the problem. The root problem is how poor Nepal is. Climbing Everest is the country’s lucrative industry.  They can’t afford to give it up.

Very much this. You’d be shocked at what positions are now contractor positions, when they used to be, and should be still, a good middle class job with benefits. As far as I’m concerned, the contractors should strike. 

The school district I work for recently did this to substitutes. They are no longer employees of the district. Rather, they are now employees of an outsourced private company based many states away.

A large amount of the the modern workforce are now contract workers.

The abuse of contract workers has got to stop.

Right. It’s only a boycott if the place knows Sam doing it and why. I doubt Sam is going to tell them, and I doubt the place will even notice Sam is gone.

To have this establishment reject my child seems like a slap in the face, and I’m thinking about boycotting it outright.
