You sound like a very reasonable and intelligent person. I look forward to hearing more from you.

I’m going to be the contrarian here:

You’ve described the last few years of my life, in travel and dating an Italian. He genuinely believes that cold wind against ones skin results in diarrhea. And if we happened to sleep in a room with air conditioning, I never heard the end of it. He also closely monitored my intake of medicine, despite my protest that

I don’t worry too much about visitors either. Especially for a gathering of folks I don’t bother at all, like you said, people choses shoes when going to a party and I’m going to clean the floors in the next day or two as part of the party clean up anyway.

But don’t socks serve basically the same purpose as house shoes? They keep your feet warm and prevent your bare feet from dirtying the floor. Seems like adding shoes on top of that is unnecessary.

When my friend and I were studying abroad (both in different places), another mutual friend asked us to visit him in Belgium, where he lived with his parents. His mother insisted on house shoes. She thought that it was dangerous to walk on wood floors in socks, and that walking in bare feet gave you a stomach ache.

an even funnier way of saying bare feet

“a pair of house shoes”
That’s a funny way of saying “socks”

I have the same problem. We don’t wear shoes indoors in our house, and I have no problem taking my shoes off in someone else’s house, but I feel weird about asking people to take off their shoes in my house.

Just cancel the whole dang thing. You know for the dogs.

I would actually reccomend pushing the “older” stuff, as the stuff aimed at young people tends to be cheap crap while older-targeted stuff tends to be aimed at people with a bit more money and a willingness to go off if the quality isn’t there. Hell, push them to see whether their grandmothers have any nail polish

Is any other car’s cruise control “idiot proof, and nearly impossible” for crashes to occur? Just because Tesla is getting pretty close to that ideal doesn’t mean that we should penalize them for it. Sure, AutoPilot is a dumb name. But so are all the other autonomous system names, like “ProPilot” etc.

4th: “Nissan’s biggest hope at the moment is Boris Johnson.”

This lady is risking her life and if she isn’t suicidal she needs to get the hell out of Saudi Arabia right now. Either that or get on TV every freakin day so the Saudis have to protect her.

I believe everything you buy frozen at the store is flash-frozen, because it yields better results. The items retain their texture better when thawed or reheated.

First, just buy a bag of frozen berries from the grocery. Is it flash frozen? It doesn’t matter.

WOMP WOMP

I’ve heard this concern raised over juicing, since it removes the fiber that regulates the rate at which the sugar hits your bloodstream. That’s not an issue with smoothies, which keep the fiber.

That’s not really true because if you’re making your own you control the sugar content. If it’s a mixture of greens/fruit/veggies it’s entirely possible to make them with a relatively low sugar content that can be high in fiber and nutrients.
