If Porsche had the ability, wouldn’t they have provided a lower power mode or something that would extend the range to that extent at the trade off of some maximum horsepower/torque?

Eh, you’re painting with a broooad brush there. Generally speaking, Porsche is one of those companies that isn’t really known for engineering missteps. If the Taycan has a lower range, it’s likely intentional rather than a lack of know-how. Tesla was, is, and probably will always be impressive, but Porsche is not…
Racing hybrid > family sedan hybrid, IMO.
Actually, I don’t really see this doing all that badly here. It has 3 rows, a high seating position, and the determined mecha face that seems to be popular right now.
Gross
Weren’t we in the midst of a gas crisis in ‘68?

True, but I left them out because of their venture with Renault. As I understand it, the SM line is actually pretty good.
Oh, I know. I just mentioned a small slice of things Sony has had its hand in. Honestly, if there was any tech company that could do a mainstream, production automobile it would be Sony. The only other one I could think of off the top of my head is Panasonic.
I suspect that’s what will actually happen.
I agree and, I hate to make the comparison, but they’re in more of a Tesla Motors situation here as a tech company that just happens to make cars as opposed to the other way around. They’re not looking to push car tech so much as they’re looking to push tech itself while using an automobile as a form factor.
Wow! Mazda continues to impress. Nice work, guys!
Ahead of its time as a car itself, no. I was speaking more to all the forward-thinking and innovations they will have baked in, as Sony is wont to do.
Considering Sony gave us MiniDisc, Betamax, Playstation, Walkman, Trinitron, AIBO, etc, I’m not surprised. If their history tells us anything, one of 2 things will happen - either it would be an absolutely MASSIVE success or it will be WAAAAY ahead of it’s time and a complete flop, only to be appreciated long after it…
Exactly this
Damn the Challenger, where's my Magnum Hellcat?!
No, they’re made out of papier-mâché. They weigh about three pounds and if you get hit by a bus, it’s over
Well, I mean, that is where memes come from.
