Lancia Delta.

But was the Golf the direct replacement for the Beetle? Remember, VW came out with the Type 3 and Type 4 before the Golf, and the Beetle was still in production after the Golf had gone through several generations.

I lump the first two generations together because the Del Sol is so much different. And less useful.

That’s the second gen CRX. This is the first:

So tough to follow that they never did. Just kept making them.

VW made several attempts to replace the Type 1, it outlasted all of them.

Not buying that they got it right with the new one either.

The new Jeep Cherokee, because the XJ was perfect.

I’m beginning to think Jason doesn’t really exist, he’s just a hive mind account for all the batshit wonderful ideas that every other Jalopnik editor gets but is too afraid to post.

Thats disappointing. Very un-Honda-like in terms of quality.

It sounds suspiciously like you’re advocating behaving like a fucking asshole.

They’re not just “still around,” they’re all over the place. The most offensive drum brake application I’ve seen is the $40,000 Tacoma TRD Pro. The top of the line!

I made a similar comment on another Honda-related post: they are definitely cheaping out on the interior materials and overall fit and finish, probably to compensate for feature creep and to hold their price points. I see this even on the Pilot.

Wow, there’s still new cars being made with drums in the back?

After driving a 2015 Civic... you would.

Ugh. Drum brakes. WTF. Why is this still necessary? I get that it’s a low-end car, but is it ACTUALLY cheaper to put these on cars instead of just equipping *all* the cars with discs?

“...and even the CVT doesn’t suck.”

When you roll the window down the interior panel literally deforms.
