Jerry Weigert was a semi-delusional dreamer, but I think 'scam artist' goes too far. He genuinely wanted to build the greatest supercar in the world. You don't put the kind of obsessive effort into the details of your creation if you're looking to scam people. Nothing would have made him happier than to have hundreds

Anything that gets Mazda more money to do what they do can only be good.

What about VW Fiat Chrysler?

build a Fiero out of it

I remember that Wiegert said that their best customer was a man who knocked down a wall of his house and parked his Vector in his living room. Never complained about the car once.

When the owner doesn't know how, or doesn't want to do the work is when my mortgage got paid.

It looks like a kind of 3-link/truck arm suspension, which is actually a rather competent layout for a solid rear axle. Why they decided to do a rear transaxle, and then not do an independent rear suspension is beyond me.

K24......"just an economy car 4 cyl"

So about $53k here in Canada.... Hmmmmm anyone need a kidney? I have one to spare..

What you think is a cross member is actually the De Dion rear suspension. De Dion is technically a 'live axle' setup that acts like a semi-independent rear suspension. More advanced than the last gen Mustang's live axle, but less advanced than true IRS. The Watts linkage in the center allows the wheels a bit more

De Dion suspension. Kind of a weird middle-ground between a live axle and IRS. Unusual, but it has a pretty good pedigree.

I've been to enough autocrosses to know that cones aren't THAT durable

I wondered why Codemasters hasn't releasead a new Dirt game recently. Now I know what they were waiting for.

Balmy Atlanta

They're on an aircraft carrier where every day is full of "fuck yea!" They're probably all awesomed out.

Well, nobody ever called them New York's smartest.

I find it funny how in my article on the beat, everyone told me it wasn't forgotten and how much Oppo/Jalopnik raves about it all the time......and I am one of a small handful in the comments who seem to realize this is a beat successor, not an S2000 successor.

Thank God! We've been waiting for a new Beat.

Good thing the doctor doesn't drive a BMW...he'd have no idea what the foreign object was!
