@tekwiz: It is locked to them in the sense that you need to be on AT&T to get mobile data without a dongle. The iPad wasn't developed first (though there is no way to know for sure) - Jobs had an idea for a tablet like device and put it on the backburner as soon as a prototype (iPad-esque) was developed. The iPhone

@tekwiz: Because it was a carrier exclusive deal just as the iPhone was a carrier exclusive deal.

@FlawedHero: I highly recommend giving it a try. The first month is entirely free (full reimbursement of all minutes, texts, and data - including 4G tethering and 0 restocking fee). They also know they're in last place and you can talk them into a better deal than what they lay down (they tried to lower my monthly fee

@FlawedHero: :P I had an Evo for the month before the iPhone 4 came out (can I get a fuck yes for the month free trial everybody offers these days?) and could not standddd the Sprint network

@FlawedHero: My home is York, PA where we've had fantastic service since we moved here 6 years ago and switched from T-Mobile. I'm at school up in Albany where the service is fantastic as well. I've never had any problems travelling though most of my travelling is out of country where I don't use my phone at all.

@MJ: Who said it was broken in '08? And Verizon isn't shuffling their feet - they've been wanting this thing since AT&T's first year with it. Apple is the one holding things back (that or Apple and AT&T's borderline illegal contract)

@tekwiz: From your article:

@tekwiz: I love how everyone is throwing out different numbers for the exclusivity contract when nothing was publicly confirmed - ever.

@NRSander: Nobody is going to leave AT&T to go to Verizon (at least not at first). The issues are WAY blown out of proportion in the media as anyone with AT&T knows. I have no problems with my AT&T service and a honkin' 2 year contract like millions of other people - I won't be going anywhere.

@Nihilexistentialist: Sounds like failblog belongs on failblog... where it is. All is right in the world.

@Master_Soda: First calm down, then work your way over to DaringFireball and read. If you still don't agree then sit calmly and wait until Tuesday so you can be proven wrong. Don't forget to breathe throughout all of this.

@orangebluedevil: What point are you arguing? Contracts between mega-corporations don't just get broken willy nilly and they don't always get publicly disclosed. The point is moot.

@Trowble (XBL/PSN): Ah right. There's not going to be any more of a "situation" then when Android phones started coming out.

@Nihilexistentialist: Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean this doesn't belong there...

@Stymie99: Hahahaha well done young man, well done.

Being on AT&T I couldn't care less but I do think I'm gonna go pick up some Verizon stock.

@JonThomasDesigns: My bet is they'd keep things the way they were. That was a wild few days (dragged into a "wild" month) for Gawker.

@xido: No worries, neither of those things are happening. If they were this would be an Apple event not a Verizon event.
