@Kints: Except for Mercedes, BMW*, and AUDI don't have break problems.

@GTkayaker: What's your indication that the PR nightmare was botched? I would have been damn surprised if RIM, Samsung and HTC didn't pump out a little defensive press release but to what end? The public is satisfied and the press has just about run the story into the ground. Problem solved in my eyes.

@HowIsYourFlat: Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that all three previous generations of the iPhone had the antenna in the bottom fifth or so of the phone. The newest (iPhone 4) version of the antenna is the most complex and advanced iteration by far and, in most all cases, proves to be superior.

@shatteredempathy: Figured I would never need the old red and blues seeing as playing PC games in anaglyphic 3D is borderline painful so I threw them out yesterday! NOOO!

@James: My lil' right thumb hated going to the top left corner of my old hummer... Big hands?

@WestwoodDenizen: I agree... It'll be interesting to see how Apple reevaluates the situation come 9/30 seeing as they've made no mention of a hardware fix and even went so far as to say nobody in the industry knows a hardware fix.

@ppiddy: Interesting... I'm sure there's more at play here than meets the eye. Does your 3GS happen to have the 4.0.1 update with the improved (corrected?) signal display algorithm? Surely the test should be done with two iPhone 4's running the latest firmware.

@WestwoodDenizen: That makes sense... It's also interesting to think that all of this media hype may have actually led to less AppleCare response seeing as people knew Apple was going to have to publicly respond in the foreseeable future. I'm sure we'll never know the full story but I think it's safe to say this has

So. Awesome. Looking. My second favorite part of the conference after they played that YouTube video. Anyone here ever been lucky enough to get inside of one?

@giocrov: Would a badass looking anechoic chamber help you come up with a better idea than free cases?

@DirtyDogg: Right, I understand that aspect of the issue but from the reports I've read I believe there would be some cases in which two side by side iPhone 4's would display dramatically different results when the death grip was applied. I'd love to be proved wrong :)

@wild homes loves you but chooses darkness!: Whatever the cost you can rest assured it will be less than a $1.5 billion recall. Depending on how long they keep it up for it could end up costing them in the hundreds of millions but I personally don't think it will even get there. Not to mention they have something like

@mensrea: Ah good good - that's what it appeared to be I was just thrown off that it was directed toward myself :P

This is a reasonable resolution but the one thing still bugging me about this whole scenario is we haven't heard any explanation as to why the problem varies phone to phone. Anyone know of a video demonstrating two iPhone 4's side by side displaying different death grip results?
