XJs are just classic American vehicle at this point. As a kid who finished off high school in the mountains of Colorado, used Cherokees were the basic go to for first cars for about half of us at one point or another.

Honestly the rear seats always struck me as great for little kids and that's it. I always had mine flipped down and just used it as a 2 seater. As for death traps? Maybe. It was designed in the 80s after all but wow can they take a hit.
