Yeah, what’s up with the anti-milk brigade? I can understand not wanting to drink it if you’re lactose intolerant. But, in the past few years, there have been crowds developing who seem to deploy every time someone mentions anything involving milk to tell us how it’s gross.

For some reason, I always saw the Bert & Ernie relationship as closer to that of a caretaker and a family member. That, or just inspired by “The Odd Couple.” I watched a lot of that alongside Sesame Street growing up.

I was about to say the same thing. I know the news cycle has been a never-ending buffet of horrible things, and sure, many people are tongue-in-cheek when they talk about needing a drink on the daily...but the emphasis on booze to get through the day is kind of weird.

This is a good response! Not all scalp itches are from the same thing, and respond to different ingredients. I had been treating mine with H&S for the longest time (and it didn’t really help), then tried tea tree oil-based shampoos (didn’t really help, also usually smelled awful), then Selsun (realllyyyyy smelled

Ha! I think I’ve pretty much had to cancel every order I’ve had with Zulily, because it takes that long. I wonder if anyone has ever successfully ordered from there?

They do have some good designs there, but with all of the buying-and-returning I’ve had to do with online maternity (due to sizing) I’ve been hesitant to buy from the site.

May you never know the personal hell that is the PUPP rash. Luckily, mine went away, but it took months....and every over-the-bump panel just made it so, so much worse. I like the under-the-bump options better in general, though some definitely put you into saggy territory from a poor fit.

So, I’m less than two months from my due date, and I have to say that the whole maternity clothes thing was a serious letdown. This advice is fine, but it overlooks the fact that in many, many areas, the maternity department as a concept has become nonexistent. At Target, at Kohl’s, at Macy’s, at Buy Buy Baby....you’re

That’s been my experience too with JCF. I’ll only go in there to check out the clearance rack, where sometimes I’ll find overstock/returned items from the actual J Crew stores (look for the black label). Otherwise, I do much better shopping J Crew’s in-store sales rack (always an extra X% off) when I’m looking for a

I love the look of Boden, but found quality to be a bit all over the map. I ordered a gorgeous coat last year and had to return it because the sizing was a bit bizarre and the fabric was odd. I still give it a thumbs up, because at least it’s not pushing athleisure.

For them, it’s just cheaper...and I don’t think a lot of people end up caring about material, because they intend to dispose of it in some way after a few wears. Also, you can use a big cookie-cutter like die to cut clothes shapes out of a stack of synthetic fabrics. This is why you can often find two identical pairs

Oh, I already started doing this a few months ago! I got tired of ill-placed darts, overly tight armholes, and the ongoing see-through fabric problem in women’s white button downs. (Also, so many white button downs DON’T actually button all the way down anymore, instead, they do that tunic-like thing where you have

I’m completely happy if they mainly sell “basics.” I don’t mean just t-shirts and tanks, which you can get anywhere — I mean plain, decently-crafted black dresses that are not made of that stretchy ponte material, non-leggings tailored pants, blouses without random holes cut out in the sleeves, classic high heels and

I got my hopes up when I visited a fundraiser and one of the silent auction items involved Jazzercise. I was very excited until my husband pointed out that it probably wouldn’t be ‘80s music and fun outfits, but something updated for the “modern” era. I later went to their site and tried to figure out how long it

$42 for specialized content from an expert? That’s awful. That expert might have to go the B2B route to get a better rate. I’m glad you stay away from content mills and ask what you’re worth. So many others are doing the opposite. Keep fighting the good fight!

Oh definitely. That’s also the problem of Facebook as a distribution model, the tracking across multiple websites just because you happened to click on a link. We didn’t use ad networks at my other jobs...instead, it was the text/link/image from individual advertisers. Occasionally video, but I’d usually disable

Those content mills are so bad — as are the people willing to embarrass themselves with their personal essays for that rate. I started around ‘06, but the real change happened in ‘12 with the rise of Buzzfeed. That’s when the place I worked at turned into Hot Take City to try to compete. At the time of this shift, the

I think a lot more sites are limiting the free articles to 3 or less per month. It’s just that readers don’t want to pay. (Not me, since I pay for a few subscriptions.) They also don’t want ads, they also don’t want (clearly marked) sponsored content. So while big business is indeed harming a lot of outlets, there is

With Facebook, the big problem is that they won’t let you access the people who chose to even follow you in the first place. At least without paying. And if you do pay, you still won’t reach a good number of your followers.

It might depend on the style, but the bulk of the Melissa ones have a lighter/thinner material for the actual shoe body. (I had flats and a pair of those Vivienne Westwood heels that I refuse to give up but oh my they hurt.) I think the problem is that as you walk and your body generates heat, the material gets even
