It took me until this season to like all four of the leads despite them being assholes. That was actually my biggest problem with the season two finale—it played Hannah and Marnie's relationship triumphs as beautiful, powerful moments, when all I could see was two selfish brats taking advantage of frustrated, confused

I completely missed that when I watched the episode. It's so subtle… he really just creeps in at the edge of the frame.

As much as it pains me to say this (when Ray and Shoshanna originally confessed their love for one another in the subway, I was so happy I nearly started crying), I think Ray made the right decision not taking her back. She's only suggested getting back together immediately after finding out that she can't graduate

I think in one of the cold opens, Hannah spots her staring at him through the window of the coffee shop. When Hannah waves, Shoshanna scatters.

An excellent finale.

I think the general feeling is just that you're more generous with "A" and "A-" grades than other viewers would be. Reviewing all three seasons, you've given two-thirds of the episodes A/A- grades. Not a C in sight (and, having rewatched the entire series within the last month or so, I feel that there are a definite

The best "dark" adaptation of The Little Mermaid is a Greek film from 2009.

I've seen it twice since it was released in theaters and I think it still holds up. I would honestly say that it's a better film than Her.

This is an interesting observation, but Ray has some pretty interesting opinions (and perhaps inconsistencies) in what cultural and economic properties he's willing to sanction. Remember how vehemently he defended McDonald's in the pilot?

I'll take Wu Tang shirt Jessa over beautiful flowing dress Jessa any day of the week.

NOTES:

One of my favorite movies of all time, easily in my top 10. It's all the things a great movie can be: beautiful, heartbreaking, funny, original, surprising, depressing, uplifting… It puts me through such a range of emotions, but by the time it reaches the end, I always feel so full of love. If Terrence Malick could

As far as the sexuality stuff goes, other episodes handle sex in a way that feels way more natural (although, probably just as many episodes simply portray wacky, bad sex for cringe laughs—last night's episode was an extreme version of that).

Yes, Joe's pining for Jessica Williams from The Daily Show, which makes total sense, because how can you not have a crush on Jessica Williams from The Daily Show.

I never liked him, either. From the moment we first saw him, I knew he was nothing bundt trouble.

While I see where you're coming from, I feel that part of what makes the show so enjoyable is engaging in the community conversation. I'm glad Todd's aware of this conversation and brings it up now and again—it would feel weird if he didn't.

This was a weird episode. I straight up wasn't feeling most of it, but I loved Shoshanna reuniting Crack Dad with Mousy Daughter, and the last scene hit super close to home as someone who's been in a serious long term relationship during their twenties.

I'm not sure if we ever see him say she has the body of a baby, but Hannah definitely asks the dude from Thumbsucker if she feels "tight like a baby", which is surely something Adam said to her off-screen at some point.

All the makings of? I thought it was pretty clear by now that he's a sexual sadist.

I've been meaning to see that for ages, mostly for dumb cinematography reasons. I see that it's still on Netflix, though… maybe I should finally give it a go?
