The multiplayer is free and download-only as well, so that tethers them even less to the normal arbitrary dates (Apex launched in a February). The only thing you’re getting off a disc is the single player campaign.

The Mario Kart argument doesn’t make sense because there’s plenty of Kart racers that are fundamentally the same mechanics as Mario Kart, just with a non-Nintendo IP.

Palestine is definitely doing way more than launching “a few ineffective homemade rockets”. Israel started this mess through their evictions, but it’s been coopted by Hamas for their own battle, with Palestinian civilians stuck in the middle.
