Thank you for this. I am at a different age but the same ability.

Pun intended? :)

They also offer potential future abusers a way to discuss things behind your back using a different language here:

Welcome to Evil Week, our annual chance to delve into all the slightly sketchy hacks we’d usually refrain from recommending. Want to weasel your way into free drinks, play elaborate mind games, or, er, launder some money? We’ve got all the info you need to successfully be unsavory.”

I think we have to limit this advice to “thankless” tasks which I don’t think should include all menial tasks. I work in a small company, so though I wish I hadn’t volunteered so much that people think these small tasks are a part of my job description, my boss does notice and reward me for those tasks. They may not

Michelle - I don’t have kids but I catch your articles occasionally and I just wanted to say - especially with this piece - you’re doing a real service to parents everywhere.

A noise machine app, dog waste bags (for tying up dirty diapers), and something for them to suck on (bottle, paci or boob) during takeoff and landing.

We took our first flight trip from AR to Chicago this weekend with our 10 month old. The one infant related thing we neglected to bring was some outlet covers for our hostel room, so that’ll certainly be on the list for the future.

This group of kids can teach everyone a little lesson regardless of personal politics.

I’m going to go for a more ELI5 explanation that Jhamin, focusing mostly on software-defined networking (since that is where I hear the term most):

Software defined basically means that the configuration you are doing doesn’t change based on the hardware it is going to run on.

Claire Claire, I usually find your articles interesting .. but you crossed the Line .. Panetone ... wonderful stuff the food of angels .. sipping an Asti Spumante it is the way to open Christmas Presents. A gentle indulgence before the “oink Fest” of Christmas Dinner.. What’s next ... a put down of roast chestnuts ...

Finally my paranoid delusions are paying off!
