Huh. I think I have one of those in the big barn. I’ll have to go take a look. Not that I want to cut it out of there, or try and mess with it, but it is very surprising what you find in the barns. Like cow skulls, and refrigerators, the surprises keep on coming.

Exactly, farmers are cheap, and old barns are good for storage. They won’t tear down a barn until it is falling down and they can’t store anything in it anymore. Then they clear the area around it and let it burn because at that point the wood is to far gone to be useful for any reclaiming.

They don’t make money. Despite what NPR says, most, if not all, reclaimers offer roughly zero for the barns. They tend to sell it as “getting rid of eyesores”.

Confirmed. The biggest barn on my property was the first building put up. The workers were housed in that why the built the other buildings and house.
