thank you! I was hoping my comment wouldn’t be offensive in any way, but I lived in India for a short time and so I’m very familiar with the speech patterns.

From syntax etc I suspect the writer is Indian, Pakastani or Bangladeshi. It was a perfectly clear, understandable and polite response, and not unfortunate, just not written by a native English speaker from the US
My kids invented this sandwich as toddlers but it’s just now catching on
why can’t someone sue xoJane and put THEM out of business?
This is wonderful, but having lived in India, I will say that many women who have come in the generations before your students are just as bad ass within terrible societal constraints. I’ve met women who are amazing lawyers, doctors etc who work all day and THEN go home and cook full meal for husband, brother’s family…
Then stop commenting. WTH.
You’re right, it’s extra, if you want to do something nice for the kids. I myself have done it — visited a children’s home, taken photos, sent copies to the kids and not posted the photos to social media. It is possible to do a small thoughtful thing and promote a humanitarian initiative publicly at the same time.
Eat, Pray, Love was an awful book. But I think Liz Gilbert the person is nice based on what I hear from people who actually know her. And her book about Creativity is FANTASTIC.
Yes, kids love getting their pictures taken. How about making prints and sending them back to the school/orphanage etc so that kids can have them, instead of showing off on social media?
So sorry!
My great aunt shot at her husband after a boozy argument and at the time everyone thought it was hilarious that she’d shot out the tires of his Cadillac as he tried to drive away because nobody thought she meant to kill him. But of course she could have. My cousin pulled out a shotgun and shot it into the air as a…
You’d think that a video full of naked would be interesting enough to watch until the end but...nope.
I used to fly across the country all the time as a teen child of divorce. As in changing planes at Ohare by myself at age 13. Either there was no unaccompanined minors program in the late 70s/early 80s or nobody in my family paid for it. because I was totally on my own. And yet — it scares me to think of letting my…
I agree, I just suspect that Zoe, with her actress ego, talked herself out of social responsibility and into a great role, and justified it to herself in part with the fact that “white actors steal parts from POC all the time, I’m black etc”. Hollywood needs a complete overhaul when it comes to portrayals of POC.
Is it just me, or did Zoe get way more grief for playing a dark-skinned black woman than people like Scarlett Johanassen got for trying to play Asian? I can understand why people think a darker-skinned actress should have been given the role — but I can also understand why Zoe would leap at the chance to play Nina. I…
Did the school not call the parents as soon as she was injured? Regardless of cause? If they said nothing and gave Motrin without permission that seems to me like some evidence of the school trying to act like “nothing happened.”
