The last name I’d really want to use is his mother’s maiden name, but, even though his family is super accepting and super openminded, I think their heads would all explode. In unison. Not to mention my own family, who still can’t believe I “kept” my name.

My Mom did this for me and I *hated* it as a kid because her last name was not a normal middle name for a girl, but now I realize how cool it was! And the irony is, my sister got a traditional first-ish type name as her middle name and envied me. :)
