My condolences. I’m also from Lebanon, currently living in Broumana. I’ve driven the road to Qartaba quite a few times, but I’m quite used to the roads and how people drive on them. Us Lebanese mountain road drivers have a “code” we use with our high beams to warn each other of impending hazards or other cars. You

Don’t wait too long for that decent fuel economy... It’s not going to happen. :P

I wear Euro size 48-50 (US 15-16) shoes. The only car I could heel-toe comfortably in was my old Beetle. Pedals were floor mounted and thus my toes wouldn’t hit the underside of the dash when I positioned them in a way I could do it comfortably.

Well, it’s not brown, but it’s an original manual 6 speed wagon. Plenty of mods, too. We exist! :D

I have an 850i with a 6 speed. 60,000 miles. I want an E39 M5. :P

Hey man, it’s an online blog. I’ll always be civil. :)

It speaks volumes of GM’s engine design capabilities that it takes them a whole 7 liters of displacement to make around the same power a 5.0 Voodoo engine makes.. Nobody is discounting that the Camaro is the better driver’s car, especially as the newest generation is lighter than the current ‘Stang. Z28 can and will

Shifter is the easiest thing to get used to. Quick-shifting is alot harder at first, though. :P

Those are important and big differences, especially for someone like me who likes tuning up his cars (within reason). Thanks for the info!

Sure. Do you ship to Lebanon so we can start the bank credit process? :P

Holy shit that’s a phenomenal curve. Power everywhere.. I decided just yesterday that my next AWD turbo would be an MK6R.

Agree with this. Even my first gen S3, a car universally agreed upon as one of the most understeery hot hatches of the century, isn’t that bad at all. It’s understeery compared to a BMW, sure... but it’ll still run circles around an equally powered BMW whenever traction becomes an issue.

Oh, awesome! I’m going to the Jeep event in Sorrell resort on the 29th to test some new Jeeps. I’m an editor at a car mag here in Beirut. Will definitely say hello if I run into you there. :)

What the hell is an “Aussie lift”? My wife’s Aussie and she confirms she’s never heard it before. :P

Actually, I bought my minter 1991 E31 850i/6speed for $7000, and it had exactly 52,000 miles when I bought it.

You seem to be a desktop racer.

You know, I dig it. I didn’t think I would, but I do. That motor has potential and (relatively) modern EFI. It even had coils! Didn’t expect that.

I bit the bullet and installed the YHW Haldex plug. Doesn’t feel like that anymore.

Hey man, I had a gorgeous E34 540iT/6 and currently have an E31 850i/6. I also had a E30 335iT/5 back in the day. I’ll defend them to the death too, but even I would rather a new M4 over an old E39!

I agree. But the platform is from 1996, the motor is an extremely close relative to the M60 which debuted in 1993 (and doesn’t make much better hp/liter). I was 3 years off. Big deal. :P
