Works better with TBird than MobileMe?

Without bookmarks, it doesn't make it worthwhile to use for the longer docs we'll be reading. That's where Datacase shines. but I grabbed it anyway just in case they offer that as part of an upgrade in the future.

Back up free with Mozy...

Jott removal from iPhone in... 3... 2... 1...

They're that distracting to you? Honestly?!?

How well do jailbroken iPhones run with all the background apps everyone keeps talking about running?

@counterglow What is forcing you to click on these stories? Just wondering what faulty feed reader or browser you're using so I can avoid it.

When does this one hit the app store?

One drawback to using GMail is that it can only be used with... GMail.

For those of us that really only care that it's a phone with a web browser, DRM concerns are on the level of wacky conspiracy theorists.

My problem with non-web based feed readers is that when you go read those feeds at another location, you're left staring at the same damn list of stories you already waded through while somewhere else, like home or work. Once you get to more than a few dozen feeds, only readers like Google Reader, MonkeyChow, or

Port forward to an SSH server on the Mac and everything else stems from there. You can even google around for FreeNX on the Mac which uses ssh and is muuuuch faster than VNC. Having SSH running automatically gives you SFTP for file transfers.

Fill every inch of free time with distractions that will compete for your time from then on, turning that time into more work time.

Wasteful to have another old power supply running in the house 24/7. Make use of that free VMWare Server software and consolidate some low use/low power systems into one. Even a $399 brand new higher end system running a few VMs would be more efficient than 3 or 4 of these old PCs.

If you have your own LAMP server, you can try something like Monkeychow [www.monkeychow.org] which lets you see a river view as well as individual feeds. The SVN download is the best to grab but there are also weekly tarballs.

Perhaps something that cleaned up the crap in the [prefs.js] would be more useful. Or if removing a plugin involved it cleaning up its prefs. This is pretty close to being a profile corruption issue and really unacceptable.

Zip ties and bread ties are cheaper. Just hide the wrapped bunch behind the desk and there's no giant box covering your other outlet.

Using SSH as described above lets you have only that single port 22 open and you can access all sorts of stuff, like an iTunes service, any number of VNC sessions, or SSH to other systems. Plus it's much more secure than leaving that port open to the world. Forwarding the port directly to the VNC session isn't smart

Having a tag "work" in your feed reader keeps things looking appropriate and makes it more acceptable. Every once in a while you can sneak over to something closer related to that for entertainment. I read about 220+ feeds using MonkeyChow, which only displays the newest items in a River of News view, or you can
