I’ve come to the conclusion that these people believe that you can only be a racist if you proclaim yourself to be one. Sorry it doesn’t work like that, and if you have to say you aren’t a racist a lot, chances are you are pretty fucking racist.

Yeah, the double-think is bewildering. I personally can’t muster up much of an opinion about Melania, she seems to have played the cards she was dealt to her own benefit and that’s about it, but let’s not pretend that if she wasn’t legally attached to the president elect right now these women wouldn’t be tearing her

which is remarkably funny, because melania totally aped the first lady’s speech, in heels.

Again, I would like to apologize for this getting out of hand

You want happy? My 15 year old has been to every single march here in LA with his friends and teachers. Walked into the house from the march with his “not my president shirt” and giant gay flag and I wanted to burst with pride.

It’s fairly obvious now that Trump has decided that when it comes to his administration, the whiter the better.

Oh, HELL, no.

Why isn’t WikiLeaks uploading the emails to the internet!? Come on!

I would argue some 24 hour news networks played on the same confirmation bias before social media was really a thing.

Reagan and his allies eliminated the Fairness Doctrine (not to be confused with the equal time rule). After that, Rush Limbaugh became a trusted news source for many. Then Fox News became a trusted news source for many.

While we forced Germany to remember what fascism means, we allowed ourselves to forget with a pat on the back.

Most people don’t really want news, they want to confirm that what they already believe is true. Before social media such a “news” source didn’t exist, so people were forced to confront actual facts. Now, you can tell yourself that there is real “news” that backs up what you already think without having to confront

I left NY years ago, but I still remember Schumer and Gillibrand as worthy representatives and I’m proud I got to vote in NV to send Cortez-Mastro to help them. I just pray they all have the steel in them to hold the line for two years.

Frankly, I’ll be a little shocked the GOP will allow the filibuster to survive into the new Congress, but if they manage to screw up and let it happen, any Democrat in the Senate who doesn’t return the favor from the last several years on any unpalatable bill needs to be run out of the party.

Yes. Schumer needs to step up bigly. Not advocating for rightist style ideological obstructionism but standing up for principle. And use the goddamn media more effectively to get the messages out. The Dems let the right off too easliy when they spout bullshit. Fuck that. Go toe to toe. The right gave up on civility

Look into Sherrod Brown, too. He’s a legit force and was supposedly on the list of “he’d make a great VP but then we’d lose another Democratic Senator.”

And, to add to what others are saying, it is on Congress, but it is really on us to be vocal and demand our representatives (Democrat or Republican) act with

Dude did stand up to the mob to the point that they put a bomb in his car.

I’ve been in contact with my representatives since the election results. Unfortunately, my Congressman is a Republican but I’ve been pleading with him to rethink his stances. I let his staff know what I would be monitoring his every vote for the next two years and reminded them that he barely edged out a Democrat.

This is how all liberals are going to have to be going forward. Less like NPR, more like Thom Hartmann.

Yup. And sociopaths project their own distasteful ugly characteristics onto others, accusing others of their own misdeeds...
