Cuts should *ALWAYS* start from the top. If something is going wrong, it’s *ALWAYS* the CEO’s fault. Their job is literally to anticipate problems and stop them before they happen. So if something is going wrong, the CEO has failed spectacularly at their job. They should be the first to go. After all, the reason that

Gotta love the optics of a rich executive whining about “cancel culture” 24 hours before cancelling the jobs of 10,000 people.

And people wonder why they need unionization.

The absolute tone-deafness displayed by having Sting play a private concert to MS executives in the fucking Swiss Alps the night before announcing 10,000 layoffs is incomprehensible to me. Just some Bond-villian fucking bullshit.

Sickening. Corporate elite use laborers and artists as human shields. Can’t wait for widespread unionization in this industry to balance out those tables a little bit.

It’s psychological FOMO bullshittery intended to coerce people into coughing up extra money, and “just don’t buy them” doesn’t necessarily work for everyone.

I would like my video games to not try to psych gimmick me into giving them money, thanks.

It’s not even that. You’re paying $15-20 for a list of chores to check off. Some battle passes are so grind that they become a full time job that leaves you for little time for anything else. Utilizing FOMO (which is effective on many people, especially kids) to make them feel like they aren’t getting their money’s

Why are you so butthurt about people complaining about BPs? No one is forcing you to pay attention to these people or this article Just don’t read them.

Best thing Microsoft ever did was was ditching the points system on DLC in favor of actual dollar amounts.

A real company with morals?

Imagine being ok paying full price for a game that then asks you to pay more money to access content that is already in the game.....a game you paid full price for.

It’s because there are so many options for live service gaming that these companies want to induce a measure of FOMO to keep you in their walled garden as opposed to other ones. They’re absolutely not concerned about potential fairness.

Just don’t buy them is how every other bad monetization practice happened and became the normal because publishers and developers court whale level spenders (i.e. small percentages of the player population anyway)

Battle passes are essentially a measure to apply pressure to the player and evoke the fear of missing out on certain items. Which they’ll do if they don’t log into the game daily. If battle passes were a fair mechanic you’d be able to keep and complete them whenever you wanted.

Seriously ... why aren’t collectible

While I largely agree, there are examples. Assassins Creed bumped up difficulty and progression with XP in an update, seemingly so they could sell XP boosters, time boosters etc. It’s not unheard of in single player games, being marketed some sort of speeding through the process to take less time, rather than putting

you think that way because you only see games as disposable entertainment

Alternate currencies in games need to be illegal. There is literally no benefit, it exists only to manipulate people and confuse how much your spending.

The issue is you are paying $70+ for a new game and they’re locking some of the content behind another pay wall. personally I don’t care so long as it’s only cosmetic but I can see why a lot of people get frustrated with it as it feels like they’re being nickel and dimed after already paying a hefty premium for the

“and there appear to be at least six types of currency.”
