This was funny, but when I saw the title on Twitter it really god my hopes up that he had been fired.

Gita, thank you for this--and particularly for taking the time to collect opinions from the broader fanbase.
I personally find what Jontron had to say during the “debate” (if such it can be called with a straight face) absolutely repugnant, on both a (personal) moral level, and as someone who is reasonably well-versed…
This isn’t backlash from Mass Effect 3, this is a massive downgrade from Dragon Quest Inquistion and the Mass Effect Trilogy. I don’t know what the hell happened but damn it I’m conflicted if I want it fixed or not
For me, it is less the animation issues (which as you pointed out, is not completely uncommon), but the character models. They look.... unfinished? More plasticy? I can’t quite place it. I think it is just the uncanny valley hitting me hard. The ships, lighting, effects, and environments look great, but the character…
Nothing can save a game, when the core gameplay of the game is dull. I tried No Man’s Sky and was amazed at how dull it is. Playing the game seems as satisfying as running the calculator app on your computer. Best to just move on... forget games made by programming geniuses, we need games made by designer geniuses...
Still pointless. The game needs missions and goals, and some actual stuff to explore.
Well it’s still higher than Microsoft and Sony’s lows then when you spent 500+ on a new system and the only way around their design flaws was to send it in and hope it didn’t still red ring/yellow light when you got it back. My point being this is far from the first or the worst bumpy console launch.
I’m just saying it’s the future, Tokyo is a big city that attracts a lot of people from different countries.
If you live in a homogenous country like Japan and need a cyborg body the smart choice is to go with a Japanese body/look not a foreginer look which makes no sense whatsoever.
He is comparing them to Mamoru Oshii’s movies cause they are what inspired the live a tion version, and those were pretty heavy on philosophy and existential crises as much as they were heavy on iconic action scenes (like most thing Oshii made, looking at you Angel Egg), yet you don’t see any of that here in the…
Dubbing is a fundamentally differnt process than making a live-action adaption of an anime show/movie, with dubbing the original show with the original voice actors is intact and you can easily go watch it with subs any time (and sometimes both are included on the same disk and can be swapped with a click), dubbing is…
I have to say what I’ve seen in preview clips I’ve seen of the movie do not exactly give me confidence in it. It’s set in the world, but it seems like they’re deviating from the original movie pretty strongly to make Kusanagi some sort of hero fighting against a repressive government that “stole her life”, rather than…
Anime dubs? How is that even comparable?
you can try as much as you want, Scarlett Johansson is not credible in this role.
“95% of anime characters don’t look like japanese people,” gonna stop you right there buddy. Just because they don’t “look” doesn’t mean they “aren’t.”
Arguably, the Major is a cyborg, but the entirety of the story takes place in Japan, so why wouldn’t her everyday shell look like a Japanese individual? Most anime are…
Waaaay less people watch anime compared to huge Hollywood movies.
I don’t mind choosing a white actress for the role, because frankly, 95% of anime characters don’t look like japanese people, or western people for that matter. They just look like anime characters...
There is a joke Margerat Cho told where she was asked by newscasters to say in her native language they were moving to a different channel. She said it in English they were moving to a different channel.
I “love” how some people can’t understand the concept that some brown people were born here, and sometimes their parents, and sometimes their parents’ parents. It’s as though everyone who’s not white is an immigrant (taking jobs, committing crime, etc.)
