Let’s not sleep on the follow-up description, which is its own level of incredible: “some kind of deeply malevolent dumpling”

It was great to have a couple games today (this one especially) that felt like they flowed a bit better. China and Japan both brought some dynamic and creative attacks to their games and were done in by a lack of overall quality (China) and bad finishing/luck (Japan).

Yeah, the automatic nature of a lot of these reviews is the aggravating part and why we’re seeing so much more stoppage time at the ends of both halves of a lot of these games (7 minutes of 2nd half stoppage time shouldn’t be the norm).

Spain seemed to have a clear gameplan to play physically and foul hard, especially where Morgan was concerned. That might have thrown the USA off their game, as they just couldn’t link things together to create much danger. Mewis and Lavelle had some good runs through the midfield that didn’t amount to much more than

the evidence is conclusive: You’re in his heaaad, Felix.

Good work whoever remembered to get the Splading-branded mylar balloons.

Ah yes, the easy side where they will play perennial power Germany (0 GA) in the Quarters and then either an Asian team with a WWC title in their past (though, really, China has no chance), or a rising UEFA power who has looked really damn good in this tournament.

It’s the Narcan antidote to the playoff high. Would be irresponsible of the league to leave fans to come down on their own.

Might be time for a “Worst Groups In Sports” bracket of some sort. I’ve got MLB Umps vs. NFL Owners in the finals. Maybe round out the Final 4 with NCAA Administrators and the IOC? Tough competition all the way around.

I wonder how much his poor play with Caps (and their washing out of the playoffs) as that deadline rental affected the value of the deal he got from the Rangers. Feel like 4 yrs @ $6.6M per year isn’t so hot for a guy who was 28 years old and generally well regarded.

I know “getting is right” is paramount to many people, but it has really impacted the viewing experience of the game detrimentally. If you watched the first half of the Uruguay-Ecuador game last night you know exactly what I’m talking about.

that’s just science

Right, I read through a bunch of the recent comics and most of them just make no sense. A black hole of vacuousness. At least Garfield has an ethos.

Heathcliff was a snitch responsible for the capture and deaths of hundreds of innocent dogs, he sucks

Lloyd is terrifying and inspiring to watch. Not sure how she doesn’t dominate NWSL, but then again Orlando has Alex Morgan, Marta and several other top players and is dead last right now (and mediocre last year).

People keep trying to make this point, but I don’t see it. Sponsored posts are clearly marked and posts from The Inventory have the little pink gift box icon. I clicked through to a bunch of the other sites and nowhere did it seem all that confusing what was regular site content and what was sponsored or

Was a weird game, made more so by lots of players slipping down and Sam Kerr indirectly causing 2 goals by not touching the ball (and scuffing a shot and a pass in really dangerous areas).

Because those posts are very obviously not about sports and do not intertwine sports news/analysis/dick jokes with product and logo placement. They clutter the timeline, but they don't conflate the content and the ads.

Yep, my U9 team is getting killed every week (we are mostly 7 and 8 year olds and have scored 0 goals) but I have no interest in the other teams letting up because my players will learn more and improve by facing tougher competition. It's up to the coach to keep them motivated and giving effort. To my kids' credit,
